Has anyone tried....

Linden, TN

planting MG's in containers and keeping them indoors like through the winter. I have a lovely sunroom and thought about trying some. Not a lot, just a few... lol

Hi Carolyn,
Yes several of us do. I grow mine starting in December for mid winter blooms to chase the blues away. They do well under fluorescent lights for me or HPS light. I may go back to just fluorescent this year to save some electricity!!! Only problem I seem to get is white fly by the tons. No aphids or spider mite yet but I know some have complained about that.

Give them something to climb on, lots of light and bloom booster and you are good to go!!! Good luck!

My sunroom get lots of light in winter..... leaves are off the trees and the sun sits lower in the winter sky and if I open the blinds more the sun will shine right into the room.... The room is quite bright and cheerful... and I keep 2 bakers racks full of african violets and Christmas Cactus with a few other unkowns but interesting plants... I also keep a 6+ foot pencil cactus in there... I think I shall try some this time around...

Thanks,
Carolyn

Carolyn - Sounds like you have the perfect natural set-up in your sunroom! I would definitely try some MGs this winter! Be sure to post photos when you do!
