I hope someone can help me identify this beetle.

I found it today on my orange butterfly weed, Asclepsias tuberosa.

I live in the Midwest, zone 5

Not a beetle, but a true bug, Oncopeltus fasciatus. AKA large milkweed bug

I was really surprised by the name of this bug. I've grown butterfly weed for over 20 years and had never seen one of these.

I love our plant and bug ID forums!! They have never failed me yet.
