CLOSED: what is this bug?

Damascus, MD(Zone 7a)

I have seen this bug on my patio several times now, but have not notice any on my plants. I don't think it is a Japanese beetle, because it is much larger (or do Japanese beetles actually get this big?). Can anybody please ID this bug? Is it harmful to plants?

Thank you.

It's a green June beetle, probably Cotinis nitida. - the larvae are pests, but anything is better than Japanese beetles.

The adults also go after soft, ripe fruit. Just ask our blackberries...

I think they go after dimes, too -
