Can anyone ID these bugs for me, and tell me if they're bad news or good news? There are hordes of them on my asclepias incarnata, but I've not seen them on any other plants. Last year the asclepias hosted hordes of aphids, this year it's these guys. They don't seem to deter the butterflies and bees who also love this plant. Thanks for any helpful info!

Milkweed bugs. Squish 'em or throw 'em in a bucket of soapy water.
Do they harm the plants? If not, I don't care about their presence. If they are harmful, I'm not sure squishing or drowning are viable options; there are literally hundreds of them on the two plants. I have a pyrethrin spray I save for troublesome infestations, but don't want to harm the bees and butterflies. Thanks for the help!
I'm not an entomologist, so I don't know. But don't spray anything that would kill the bees.
Thanks again, indy.
