There is a co-op going for some germination supplies . . . http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/856850/ . . . the black trays are going for $0.68 each, and the "normal" domes are I think $1.33 each . . . there are a few other items in there, too . . . one thing up in the air right now, though, is the shipping . . .
where is everyone?
Thanks, Nichole! Going to look. Hope you are still coming my way??????
Still in the plans! Going to get the cooler ready Sat. night . . . only slight alteration MAY be that DD and I drop DH and DS off at the Lexington, then swing by your way . . . but will definitely let you know first!
how neat is that! How deep is that tray, Nichole? just being nosy.........
Also.........I hate for you to do all the driving.........I can drive somewhere so you don't have to drive here..........but if you drive here, you can go home with more plants (LOL)
I guess it is a standard size 10x20 tray . . . just measured, and it is 2 1/2" from the top rim to the bottom of the tray . . .
Makshi and Spider - sorry to hear you both are not feeling well. I'm a pharmacist that specializes in hormone replacement, and it could definitely be low thyroid hormone. If either of you are 35 or older, it could also be low progesterone. If you have low progesterone, then that can cause your thyroid to make less thyroid hormone. Even if your thyroid hormone is in the 'normal' range, it may be much lower than the level that is normal for your body. Many times, replacing the progesterone will restore your thyroid gland's function (solving the problem at the source); and docs typically do not test your progesterone levels. There are several progesterone creams available OTC or you can get them at a compounding pharmacy.
I didn't mean to turn this into a medical thread, but I just saw this thread this morning and had to tell you about this!
Nice husband you have Makshi! Pretty flowers and I love glads.
WE always welcome info from a pharmacist! I am getting old...........don't know how many more on the forum are, too.
Well I am a little bit old. :) It is my Son Gail. Thank you for the info. erica.
Makshi, lovely flowers and I am sure they lifted your spirits! Sorry you are not well, Spider.
I have had Chronic Fatigue for many years, fatigue is part of my life, better word is severe exhaustion.
I was afraid my recent abdominal Hysterectomy would set me back, but it hasn't. I am on great supplements with a great doctor that actually knows about CFS. Most do not.
My thyroid is low, but I didn't like the side effects of my med. last time. I am going to try half of a low dose soon. I wanted to get all of my medical procedures (Lithotripsy and the surgery) finished and healed... Then I will try again with the thyroid med.
I hope you can find a doctor to help you. It took YEARS for me with both of my problems. YEARS. A real shame too, CFS really got worse and could have been helped on day one.
B12, hormones, vitamins, etc, all need to be measured. A simple B12 test was one of the keys to helping me. My level was almost nill. I was in bed with daily vertigo for years. Sometimes simple things can help serious illness.
Hi girls,
Thankyou very much for the info, Ericabelle :o). I will check it out and talk to my doctor about it. I had no idea thyroid problems could be caused by progesterone.
I am still wating to have my T3 and 4 checked as well.
Oh Sally, I am sorry to hear that you have CFS. I wondered about that when I read some of your posts.
I was diagnosed with it in 96 and had it about 2 years. I then started to get better and even run again.
Now my endocrinologist thinks it is back but, before she is sure I have to have many more tests as the diagnosis of CFS is done by exclusion.
My doctor does not prescribe Progesterone after a hyster. I have used a bit in the past though. Just a little, it can sure make you groggy and tired.
Sally - you may have taken a progestin. There is a huge difference between progestins (found in birth control and various menopause therapies) and progesterone. Progestins are man-made and actually block you own natural progesterone from working. The side effects of progestins are the same as the symptoms of low progesterone, including fatigue, water retention, depression, achiness, and weight gain. So you have probably taken a progestin in the past - progestins are not needed after a hysterectomy (and in my opinion, not even needed before it!) But the differences between progestins and progesterone are frequently misunderstood by most doctors, they usually lump them together.
Hormone replacement has become such a controversial subject lately!
Erica, yes, I know there is a diff. between the two. I have not had the progetin.
Bonnie, I use one light fixture with two bulbs like you are saying, but I keep the lights pretty darn close to the plants. (just on sinningias.......not on big avs or streps but I do mix the small avs with the sinningias like you do)
Your plants look great and we have to figure out why they don't stay in bloom for you. Let me know about the fertilizer if you have it or not.......
ericabelle, I was so sad (LOL) back in the mid 90's when they took my Prempro away from me. I had been on it for 12 years. I can hardly wait for my mouth to heal.......maybe I need some male hormones (make me meaner than I already am)(just teasing)
There are good patches now. I love the Climara patch, just estrogen. All is well and even now.
How far are they from the light. Yes, what fertilizer. I see they are very close together. Some are in shade. Maybe you can separate them. It is good when they do not touch and they get lots of air circulation.
Don't really want to get into any discussion as I wouldn't know what I wsa talking about, but my aunt who passed away because the ob/gyn in CC gave her estrogen without the progesterone. She had cancer because of the mistake he made. In fact, he bought my old house on Catalina.
Sally, Bonnie's plants aren't crowded to me. I can fit a lot of plants on one tray and keep them healthy I think.
Gail, it is good to take them both together IF you still have the uterus, not afterwards. For that reason. It kind of switches after you have it out. Some doctors may still do it, but my doctor does not and from what I learned from lots of reading, I am glad.

I shouldn't have said anything 'cause I know nothing. (except that Aunt Jo did not get proper treatment) and that makes me sad.
It is very sad and I am very sorry you lost her. There are no perfect rules of course. You can never know for sure. You can get cancer many ways. It is always so sad.
The doctor is a very prominent doctor and even told her the truth...........now that is rare to admit a mistake............
That is very sad, Gail. Sorry to turn this into a medical thread - did not mean to do that!
Haha - I get enough of that at work! I guess we are all successful if we just do whatever is best for our individual health and makes us feel the best physically!
I'm loving this thread! Great photo's and great information regarding plants, light set ups and health issues too!
Some of y'alls symptoms reminded me of one of my sisters. She has a lot of health problems and one is fibromyalgia: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/fibromyalgia/page3_em.htm ... some of the same symptoms as CFS.
Makshi: So glad to see you posting. Hope you feel better soon. What a sweet, dear son to bring your beautiful flowers in for you to enjoy, I know that must have cheered you up!
Yes, Fibro. has pain, but similar to CFS.
I have a good friend in Corpus with Fibromyalgia. She does have some bad days but would never complain a day in her life. She is amazing. Her talents with sewing are breathtaking. She continues to go out of state for classes and even has her own website for selling everything from handmade purses to baby clothes.
She is truly one of those people who have turned lemon into lemonade and such an inspiration to be around. I could take some lessons in joy from her as I am such a baby when I am hurting (LOL)
