just wondering...it's so quiet here today.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

It is quiet. I'm at work, so really have no pictures . . . although I think I will this weekend . . . a few of my babies may bloom.

Gail is driving home today, so we may not hear from her until tomorrow.

Hi,

I have a question. What should the height of the light be for a sinningia?

I have been hanging my lights back on the shelves but have no idea if they should be the same height as for the AVs and streps.

Thank you:o)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Let me take some quick pics for you (although the lights are already off)........sinningias go much closer to the lights than avs or streps. Maybe someone else who grows all three will have different ideas.........
Although the top shelf here is really not the top shelf, that is where the larger sinningias grow.
Below that are the tiny sinningias about 6 " from the lights
On the bottom are tiny baby streps and av leaves growing about 6" from the lights also

You can see that episcias don't need to be close to the light either

I keep baby streps about the same distance as avs or maybe a little further away from the lights.........

I haven't been here much for several days. I have just felt to bad to be on much. Been sleeping for three days for the most part. I am still here though and miss being on the forum.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Makshi, I didn't even know that you weren't feeling well. I am so sorry and inquiring minds want to know why you don't feel well.............you don't have to say anything you don't want to...........we just care about you!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Gail I wish I knew what causes it. There doesn't seem to be a good answer. I am just in pain, weak, sleepy, cold and all I do is stay in bed and sleep until it lets up. I feel better today.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

That is not fun at all, Makshi. I am assuming you have checked with your doctor but, most of all, I am glad that you feeling better and back to posting with us again..........

Lilburn, GA

I didn't have internet connection since last night. It has just been back and I am in the middle of checking Gails photos and the electricity goes off (thunderstorm) Grrrr....

Makshi, i have been having health problems very similar to yours. I have been to 3 different doctors and done lots of tests. The only real diagnosis I got is hypothyroidism. I have been to forums and am learning that most doctors have no diea how ill you can get with thyroid/adrenal/pituitary problems.

These two past days are the best I have had in 8 weeks. I have spend the last two months in bed for most of the time, too exhausted to even eat.

Have you checked your thyroid? I hope you find an answer soon.

Lilburn, GA

Gail, thank you very much for th ephotos. They were a big help to me and i have started setting my shelves.

I just spotted something on one of the photos that I have to ask you about.

I saw that you have two plastic containers, green with transparent covers. In England they are called propagators but i don't know their name here.

Where did you get them from? I used to have them while living there and I never brought any with me to the US as I was sure they would be sold here but I never found them. I looked in garden centers, lowes, home depot etc... I loved them. I used to have heated ones as well. Are they for sale here?

thank you for any info. i really miss having them.

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

boy, i hope you two are feeling better soon, that a long time not to feel good, ugh.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Spider and Makshi, maybe you all can share your knowledge and help one another.

Those clear domes and green bottoms come from Park Seed but they are pricey because you get the strofoam and sponges to grow seeds with them. I do love them though. I think they are 19.95 each.

The black flimsy ones are my favorite and have real tight fitting clear domes. Now they even make the dome up to 6" high. Maybe someone else can help me remember where I bought them. (maybe Violetshowcase) They run about 5 or 6.00 each with the dome.
