Hi all. This is my first summer in my garden, and a lily bloomed when I was away for a week. It looks a little odd around the edges (it's stuck in the middle of other things), but I'll take better care of it if I know what kind it is and what it needs. Does anyone recognize this? It probably blooms earlier in hotter areas. We've been in the mid to low 70's except for a couple of days in the 80's.
ID for a lily?
It looks like "Kwanzo", a double hemerocallis or daylily. You might check in on the daylily forum here to see which daylily they think it might be. I think you can move it if you want; they have these long, finger like roots to dig out but it doesn't seem to hurt them much if part of them gets cut off in the digging. They are hard to kill in fact!
Hi Maggie, and welcome to DG. In this forum we visit mostly about Lilium, the 'true' lilies. What you have there is a daylily, or Hemerocallis. But never fear! ~ there's a daylily forum that can give you all kinds of help. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/hemhead/all/
Good luck with you new garden! :)
Thank you. I've posted on the daylily site.
But don't run off, come back and play here. We'll get you addicted to Lilies, too. :)
