I just got some of the pink double delight coneflowers, and I was wondering if the seeds will be sterile or not? does anyone know? Megan O
WIll Coneflower Double Delight Germinate??
I don't know if the seeds will be viable or not, but even if they are viable they probably won't come true from seed.
Thats sort of what I figured,, I'll do divisions. thanks
I have the purple cone flower and I'd like to try some of the seeds from it. If they do not come true what would they possibly look like?

If it's plain old purple coneflower and not some fancy cultivar it probably would come true from seed, it's the fancier hybrids that are less likely to do that. For the fancier cultivars like Double Delight it's hard to say what you'll get, even if they just pollinated among themselves you can't really predict what the babies would look like, but if there were other coneflowers in the area that could have cross-pollinated then it becomes even harder to predict. In the case of Double Delight I suspect a lot of the babies would lose the "double" nature and look a lot more like plain regular coneflowers.
