PLease help I.D. this moth. It was about 2" - 2. 1/4" in length.

This could be a catalpa sphinx (Ceratomia catalpae) or a close relative - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceratomia

How delighted I'm!!! If indeed it's Ceratomia catalpae sphinx moth! Though, where I found this fella hidden was far away from my 1.5 years old catalpa. Thank you, for your help.

A picture from tonight on the Patio. I believe it to be some kind of Moth but it would not land just hover from Lantana blossum to blossum. Check out the toungue!!!! Again this moth is in flight at the time of picture..... What is it!!!!!!!!

This flying invader is nearly 2 inches long.....

Looks like you've a Tersa sphinx moth! Its hostplant would be Pentas.
