Hello, my name is Carolyn and I am a MG-aholic !!

Linden, TN

I am so totally taken by MG's that I am already planning next years garden with lots and lots of MG's and flowering vines. OMG, it is like a sickness within me.. LOL I have this one and the Heavenly Blue... I am not sure where this one came from, but must have been in the same packet as the Heavenly Blue. I have red ones on the other end of our deck... but I want more, more, more.... Could y'all share your sources for such magnificent MG's??

Thanks and God Bless..

Pineview, I hesitate to add to your addiction but here is a morning glory bush ( perennial ) that I just got this year.

Becky, is I. Nil the same as the Japanese Perennial MG? If so, I have that one growing in a pot, and it has blooms nearly like Star of Yelta. Very pretty... but it will get planted in a planted out near a huge Oak Tree in front of our home. That way, it will be contained as we mow all around that planter and so it won't get a toe hold anywhere but in the planter...(I hope)

I will see if I can get a few photos in the morning to show y'all what I have.

Thanks,
Carolyn

Carolyn - JMG I. nils are not perennials. Most MGs (except for a rare few) are annuals. Most will produce seeds ... so they may come back year after year. My experience is that I. purpurea MGs produce quite a lot of seeds vs some of the other MGs species. The more seeds, the more volunteers you will get. Star of Yelta I believe is an I. purpurea. :-)

bugme - Your perennial MG bush bloom is beautiful! :-)

Added to say:

Carolyn - Your vine is a beaut too! I always like the whites and yours is pretty with those blue stripes!

I had no idea that there were MG Bushes... wow... that is totally cool too. Do they grow from seed??

I am so willing to accept MG seeds... and am so very willing to send postage or whatever...

I have it in my head to rip out all the daylilies in front of the house and plant MG's and rig up supports all the way up to the roof.. Lots of railings around our decks... Oh I can envision next year already.. lol

Now this is an addiction I can be happy to live with...

Oh my! Carolyn - You have the perfect set-up in front of your home to that! You have enough trellis (under the deck) and fencing for the vines to climb that I don't think you will need much in the way of supports ... unless of course you DO want them to go to the top of your roof! LOL!

Why wait until next year ... now is a good time to plant them. What zone are you in?

D-mail me your address and if you have any preferences of colors. I will send some I. nil seeds out to you to try! :-)

Carolyn, Dmail me with your addy and I will send you some seeds.

I am in Zone 7. Middle Tennessee... and I have to get some daylilies dug out along with some siberian iris.... The flower bed is so crowded... lol... But I do wish to get some MG's going and I would adore them going to the roof.... lol.. It would add some more shade to the front deck for the kitties to enjoy...

I am d-mailing you both...Thanks bunches,
Carolyn
