CLOSED: What is this?

It is about the size of a bumblebee and acts like one. Red with black wings and a little green head with a long nose. Tentatively identified as a fly. But what kind? We never had this critter around until about a week ago.

I think it's a Tachinid fly, genus Adejeania... probably A. vexatrix. It's supposed to be the only US fly in that genus:

lol Thanks...It is a pretty distinctive fly - I saw some other Tachinid flies at work this week, so I know a Tachinid when I see one, anyway. At least the obvious ones...
