I thought I would post a photo of the Original Sunrise Mix for general reference as depicted in the W.Atlee Burpee retail seed catalog page circa 1998...
The original Sunrise Mix pictorial as used for the original "Sunrise Mix" in the catalog was cropped horizontally but expanded slightly vertically and used for the special Signature line of packets as seen in the PlantFiles here...
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/206457/
The original "Sunrise Mix" was purely an Ipomoea nil mixture which consisted mainly of the Akatsuki series from Sakata and at least several additional as of yet incompletely identified but interesting types ...the extra large grower packages that I purchased consecutively from Burpee were always imprinted with Sakata...
The original "Sunrise Mix" was discontinued by Burpee several years ago , but the same pictorial has subsequently been resurrected and used for a very different product called Burpee's Best Mix...
Burpee's Best Mix is a mixture of Ipomoea purpurea and Ipomoea nil, but the Ipomoea nil contained in the newer product does not have the wide variety of Akatsuki types as were contained in the "Sunrise Mix"...additionally the usage of the wide range of Akatsuki types as shown on the pictorial is not accurately representative of the types contained in the new 'best mix'...
The original "Sunrise Mix" contained a dark burgundy flower which apparently contained (within it's genotype) some interesting components and subsequently 'threw' the Royal Robe as listed in the PlantFiles here
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/67056/
The dark burgundy also 'threw' at least several other colors including (but not limited to) several types of chocolate, rose , a dark solid purple and reds with a picotee edge...
Burpee is once 'again' offering a Sunrise Mix

copy and paste the above url from the http through the .do

with the same claims made about the Best Mix...
but since I have received no feedback on this offering as of yet and have not yet personally inspected or grown out any of the current offerings packages, I suspect that it may simply be the Best mix 'absconding' the name from the original mix...
Hoping a bit of history might be helpful and interesting...

Burpee Sunrise Mix original catalog pictorial
I'm not advocating completely avoiding trying the new mixtures...I am saying be careful to not get your hopes up too high...some of the new batches may have something interesting in there...
The colorful packet pictorial certainly has eye-catching sales appeal and the Burpee page is offering 50 seeds for $1.95...usually can't get that good a deal on ebay...
You see,now you've let me talk myself into checking out a few packets...
