Need help identifying this bug

This critter is about the size of a bumblebee and acts like one. However, we have never seen anything like it before. It appeared in our garden about a week ago. It looks more like a giant fly than a bee. My photos aren't very good but you can get an idea of what it looks like. The colors are red, black wings, and a greenish head with a long nose! Sure would like to know what it is! I do have more pictures.

It's a true fly in the family Tachinidae, probably genus Adejeania, but you should post this in the Bug and Insect ID Forum:
