I have ID'd my beetle as this, but got this message when I tried to add the bug. "The order ("Coleoptera") and family ("Geotrupidae") are not familiar to us. Before you can add this bug, you'll need to post the details to the BugFiles How-to's forum."
Soooo, how do I do this? I've had this problem before. I know there is the order Coleoptera here, but when I search for it, it says it can't find it, do I mean Coleoptera? :o Now that is exactly what I had put in. So I click on it and it brings up millions of pages of beetles. The family Geotrupidae doesn't come up at all. Here's the details on my bug and a picture. And here is a link to the bug on Bug guide. http://bugguide.net/node/view/14362

Blackburn's Earth Boring Beetle
An administrator has to add the new family for you - no one has added a beetle in Geotrupidae yet.
Coleoptera comes right up when I search it, I don't know. ?
Thanks Claypa. :-)
How do I have an administrator do this?
creekwalker,
good to see a beetle from a new family to be added to BugFiles.
I have created an entry for your beetle here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5147/
and have added the family to the index.
Let me know when you have added your images to the page and I will select an image to illustrate the family in the index,
Kennedy
Thanks Kennedy! I have added my pictures.
Thank you, I have chosen one of your images, which now illustrates the family Geotrupidae in the index, here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/browse/order.php?bid=1
