I thionk it is some sort of Katydid. It has very long whiskers. It was sitting on a wild petunia.

This likely is a nymph of aq bush katydid (Scudderia spp.) - see http://www.flickr.com/photos/sankax/2598499333/ for an image.
I didn't find an exact match, but it is very close. I didn't know there were so many color variations.
