I thought this was really funny. I hope it is okay to post it.
Funny
Oh Makshi, That made my day! Love it! I would never in my life (even when younger) have the guts to sunbathe in the nude but that's what I would look like today if I did!
Oh my...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Too funny. Thanks for the giggle.
Laura
ROFLMAO!!!
HA!
OMG...luv luv luv it!
Thanks Spider....I finally get it (roflmao)!
Goodness, I wish I looked that good *lol*
The only thing missing are all the stretch marks that make her stomach look like a road atlas and even includes foreign countries that lead to hips and thighs *lol*
I have never owned a 2 piece bathing suit and have pretty much thrown in the towel to that idea during this lifetime *lol*
That is too cute!
Kim
Made my day, Makshi!
Thanks for e-mailing that to me Makshi ... I've sent it on to my sisters and a couple of friends!
Hee, hee...
OMG,LOL,LOL,Thats to funny.....
My grandchildren tease me all the time about my 'granny panties' and not wearing a bathing suit to the beach! I just put on my long slinky bermudas and a big T shirt which keeps them in laughter.
They all left (boo hoo) and (yea yea).....good to come and good to go.........right?
I don't want to start a thread to post a few granny pics. Makshi, will you share your thread just for a couple of pics.
One spent all her time making a house for her doll and the new kitty. (also chasing frogs and picking them up.........gross)
It looks like everyone had a good time, Gail!
Being a grandmother is the best thing in the world!!! You get to love them, cook with them, spoil them and send them home to Mom and Dad! Thanks, Nichole........you have a dmail. I forgot to ask you something.
Gail, you have a beautiful daughter and grandkids. The younger one looks just like a ballet dancer.
PS: I love frogs and have lots of fun picking them up and playing with them.:o)
Something funny really did happen. The younger one (who does take ballet) caught a great big frog.......about 4 or 5" ........just gross.......when she picked it up, it went to the bathroom all over her. She was laughing so hard and said, "Well, that frog peed on me faster than I could say 'butter cup'". We had such a good time.
The older one will be like her daddy's side of the family. All 5 of this sisters are over 6 ft. tall. She is quite the athlete in the family.
Great pictures, Gail. Great looking kids having so much FUN! Your daughter is so pretty. Great family!
Let's face it, Sally! Don't we all just think our families are the best part of our lives! Thanks....
Gail, please tell her to be careful as sometimes frog's pee can be toxic to the skin and cause rashes.
I have not heard that. I LOVED toads when I was young. I held them and got plenty of pee on me, ah. Maybe it is just some frogs that might be a problem. They are such cute animals.
Right before she picked him up, she said, "Nana, do you really get warts from frogs"? Before I could answer her she chimed in with, "Oh well........I think they have to pee on you to get warts"..........then it happened.
I can touch a lot of things, but I don't touch frogs..........this child will pick up any creature. I will have to ask my younger daughter about the danger of frogs......thanks for the hint.....
Sally, it's just some types that can cause skin rashes, not all frogs. I pick up any critters, even snakes and never had any problems but I have heard many times that some frogs pee can be toxic.
Something else I know is that if amphibians get picked up, their skin can get damaged and it can cause their death as they have a very thin protective coating that protects them against bacterias etc and, when they are held by humans this barrier gets damaged and the microbes in our hands can infect them.
I now just pick them up if they are in danger and need a helping hand.
But, one the coolest things for me is kids that are not afraid to pick up and hold critters. They mostly grow up to be very caring for the animals and environment.
Gail, what great pictures! Your granddaughter did a great job with the little house for kitty and dolly, it is adorable! Sounds like me when I was young ... played with dolls, loved animals and loved building forts too! I wasn't so keen on picking up toads or snakes or bugs though! Just kittens and puppies. My mom would call me the humane society cause she said there were always animals following me home, LOL. Look at your grandson on that Gator! He looks like a true country boy getting ready to head out to the fields for a days work! How old is your granddaughter who was driving your car? It probably won't be long before she has her license and is driving for real! They grow up so fast ... seems like time just flies. I can't believe my youngest niece is a senior in college already, seems like she was just a little one splashing in mud puddles or the creek, and investigating all the little creatures she would find.
Your kids all look just like you, all of you have great smiles! You have a beautiful family and I know you had as much fun as they did while they were visiting.
Ok, what did your granddaughter end up naming your new kitty? Or was it not this grand that is the lucky one who gets to pick the name?
Oh, how I wish I had a few grandkids to love and spoil. You all who have grandkids are so blessed!
The younger one got to name him Tigger. She started out with Tiger (he looks like that) but, within a few hours, she told us he really should be Tigger and the name stuck.
I hate to tell you that the one driving is only 11 years old and is 5' 2". On her daddy's side of the family are all sister right at 6' tall. She doesn't really drive by herself. I always go with her and we stay on the back dirt or caliche roads where there is not another car anywhere. Her maximum speed limit is 20mph (LOL)
Forgot to say that Patch, the youngest and only 7, always goes with my brother each day to take care of the deer. This trip he found a new baby and got to help my brother tag his ear. He really felt grownup about that.
Oh, "Tigger" is a perfect name for that little guy!
Oh my goodness, I thought the one driving was at least 14 or 15! She sure looks a lot older than eleven! She looks like she is going to be tall. But, the other two may eventually end up having growth spurts and be like their dad's side of the family too. I bet Patch had a blast helping with the deer. Ok, what is the reason for tagging them? I know of organizations that tag birds and dolphins and manatees and stuff to keep track of them but have never heard of tagging deer, especially since they are hunted and killed. :(
Hunting. I know people say they need to cull herds or we'd be overrun or the animals would be dying from starvation and disease etc. but I am a softie and just can't imagine killing an animal. Yeah, I'm a hypocrite I do eat meat ... just don't want to think about where it comes from. LOL. I guess I like hamburgers and steaks too much to be a vegetarian. Like many, I would definitely be vegetarian if I had to kill it myself. I have heard of hunting club type places that actually have wild animals for the hunters to track and kill them. Many acres of land but they are fenced so the animals have no escape. They call it sport. I just don't understand it. The poor animals have no defenses against a bunch of men with big guns. I guess my definition of sport differs from a lot of other folks though. I know boxing is considered a sport too and I have never understood it. Two men (and nowadays women) beating the crap out of each other to see who can knock the other out! And, there has been proof with boxers that it can cause brain problems in later life. We human beings sometimes are not so humane in our thinking.
Well, I'm rambling ... I know, I know, what else is new? Guess I will get going and get some things done around here. I also need to go out and pick up my sweater I left at a local restaurant last night. I always take a sweater when we go out cause I usually freeze when in a restaurant. Didn't need it last night and walked out with it sitting beside me in the booth. Hope everyone has a great Monday!
Hi everyone,
Plantladylin, I totally agree with you. I HATE hunting sports (and boxing, for that matter). I don't think peeps need hunting, especially as one can get all the meat one needs from the supermarket.
You are blessed with a niece ( do you have more than one?). The important thing is to have someone to love, be them your children or not.
My next door neighbour doesn't have children herself but she has the loveliest pair of twin grand nieces that she completely "spoils". She tells me that it's just like they are hers. I think that is great!
If I remember well, you also have sisters so, you are double blessed!:o)
No, Lin, we don't hunt anymore. The deer certainly don't get killed that we have. Even when we did hunt many decades ago, we hunted doves on our own property but don't even do that anymore as we have become softies, too. As a child we had deer leases down in south south Texas on ranches. Even when we did hunt when I was a child (and I am 66) we couldn't kill anything we wouldn't eat. That was a sacred rule in the family.
My brother raises deer and tags them when they are first born so he knows which one is which when medicine, etc is concerned. They are never ever hunted down, I promise. He loves these deer. He even has them bottle fed the first few months of life so that they are not so wild and scared of people. I will have to ask him what he does with them as they grow older as I don't know.........
Gail, I didn't think your brother used them for hunting. I just wondered what the tags were for. Maybe to keep track of them as some do with birds.
I know down here in Florida if a sea turtle or manatee or sea bird is found injured, the marine scientists will tend to them until they are healthy enough to be released back into nature. They are tagged so that if one is ever found later they will know that particular animal has been treated before and from information registered to that tag number, they can find the exact circumstances regarding the particular animal.
Yes, I am curious. Please ask your brother about the particulars of the deer tagging. I know a lot of animals are tagged to keep track of them. I don't know about bottle feeding and getting them accustomed to humans though. That wildness is a defense. If they get used to humans they won't be afraid and there are many (so called) humans who would take advantage of an animal who didn't have that natural fear. If they aren't scared of people it makes it easier for the hunters and human predators. It's scary too because I've heard of instances where hunters or just some weird people going onto private property to kill deer. If caught they say they didn't realize it was private property ... Geesh, can't they read signs or don't they see that fence they just crossed?" I guess when you have thousands of acres of land though, it's hard to protect all the animals that may be roaming there.
A lot (not all) of cattle are not treated well at all before becoming dinner, or the cows for milk. Crowded, they stand in mud all day etc. Unless they are small ranches. Many have an awful life and death. I do not eat veal for sure. I do eat meat though.
With deer, they are living a wild life and then if they are shot, they are gone, for meat. If I had to choose the way an animal for meat should live, that would be it. Most hunters are respectful. There is a number you can shoot and no more.
There are wild life rangers that watch the numbers. The deer really can starve and diseases can happen when numbers are high. I have not shot a deer, but as sad as it is, for meat, it is OK with me.
I just think a lot of cattle, chicken etc. are treated badly so that is more sad to me.
I don't know enough to be discussing this but I do know that one time.........my brother shoots darts to sedate them so he can give them the right medicines............this one deer died and the vet said it was because deer have that natural flight syndrome and when they get scared they can die of a heart attack. That broke my brother's heart and from then on, he started bottle feeding them and don't worry, they still have a strong strong defense system going. But.......they don't die anymore from fear......the dart with the sedation is not what killed the deer...........
I don't think all hunters use their kill for meat. With many, it is just sport ... the thrill of the kill. I realize there is wildlife management in most, if not all states, but I just don't think there are enough rangers to protect and watch over all the vast areas of land, especially private property.
I agree totally about cattle and chicken farms ... we've all seen and heard the horror stories lately regarding some of those operations. There are many factory farms out there where as you stated, the animals have a horrible life and death. (I was going to link to the HSUS website but it may not be appropriate to do here on DG, may be against the accepted use policy.)
There are folks out there who run the puppy mills too. I saw a piece on the news recently where the Wisconsin Humane Society actually bought one of these mills to save all the dogs! Over 1,000 dogs saved! I LOVE the Wisconsin HS! The news report stated that these dogs had lived all of their lives in cages for breeding! Their little paws had never, ever touched the ground! Chokes me up just thinking about it.
For so many people, life is just about making money. It is so hard to imagine how anyone can look at a living, breathing creature and treat it so horribly. Even the lowliest creature on the planet has feelings.
Which reminds me. Click on this link and watch this little video. It is really Awesome! Shows that a lot of God's creatures truly do have feelings and ... memories! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adYbFQFXG0U
Wow, I have SO much to catch up here. I don't even know where to start.
Gail, those children look SO happy and content to be spending time at Nana house and getting spoiled :) There is nothing better than country living in my opinion. Great imaginations on all of them which is so important and today's kids who grow up playing video games all day or watching TV all day seem to be lacking great imaginations.
As far as the animal conversation, it's such a heated subject for alot of people and everyone has such differing opinions on the matter. Personally, I believe the animals were put here to help sustain life for man. Whether it was to help in the fields or for nurishment. I do believe that man has become extremely greedy and inhumane as far as the treatment of the animals and I believe there is alot of waste (what happens to the unsold meat in the grocery) because of it. However, I have a cousin who grew up with a bow and arrow and gun in his hand. He NEVER purchases meat. He feeds whole family (3 kids & wife) with only what he kills. They use every part of the animal he kills and they freeze ahead for non hunting months. His children love deer meat and have grown up eating only what my cousin raises. I think that this is the correct philosophy and what intentions were in the beginning. Just my humble opinion.
Kim
Gail, I can tell your brother is a true animal lover the way he tends the deer as he does. Yes, I had forgotten but have heard about that fright/flight mechanism in deer and I remember too hearing of them having a heart attack and dying from fright. I think it's possible with any animal just as it is with humans. Your brother is a caring wildlife manager. That's the only way to do it, is with the sedative, that's what the professionals do when they are tagging or checking on a wild animal's well-being.
