Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Hi all. I haven't posted on this forum before - just lurked and admired. I love lilies - particularly scented ones and grew a few Orientals in pots in the UK. Now I'm in France I bought some more, but these, labelled Mona Lisa on the packet, obviously are wrongly named. I asked on the ID forum, but haven't had a single reply, so am hoping one of you lily enthusiasts may know please?

It is strongly scented. The spotting is quite delicate compared to others I've grown

Here is the whole gorgeous potful. The plants have grown to 24"

Lovely blooms, Hilary ~ glad that you have lilies again and to see you post them here.

Your pics are tickling something in the back of my brain but I haven't come up with a match yet. I'll keep working on it.

Le Reve?

That was my first thought too, but it might be a little more intensely colored

Other possibilities could be
Rosato

Marco Polo

I'm still leaning toward Le Reve, just because of pollen and stigma. We all know how they enhance photos and I did find the same photo on about 3 different sites, so they are all using the same pic.

Thanks very much Moby and llilyfan.
What do you mean about the pollen and stigma llilyfan?

color of pollen and stigma

Ah, OK thanks. I don't know much about lily ID (stating the obvious LOL), but in that case I agree that Le Reve seems the most likely. Also it came from a non-specialist outlet here in France, so I think it's likely on that count too.

Looking at all the photos I can find overall, Rosato seems to have a little more shading on the petals with a slightly paler centre.
Marco Polo looks very close, even to the amount of green coming from the centre. However I can't really tell about pollen and stigma from the photos I've found.

yes, making an identification from photos is very hard. Monitors differ and the camera used may have changed the color to richer and darker or lighter than what was photographed. Growing another Le Reve close by is probably the best way (if you can get the right bulb!)

And whenever possible, you should compare the whole plant:
flower, stem, leaves and even the bulb and seed pod.

amen lefty!! Sometimes I omit the basics :-)

Yes OK thanks, I do agree. I'll just have to get some more lilies to check - and probably end up with something completely different again LOL
I do find that there are a lot of mislabelled plants here

Sadly, you're not alone ~ we all have plenty of 'mistakes' in our gardens too.

Still, most of the mistakes here are beautiful anyway :)
.........a rose by any other name and all that LOL

Indeed. I have at least one no name that I will never part with.
