A fellow Mets fan!! Nice shot - good night, Robin.
Garden Photo's Part 23
I confess, I shop for lilies and many, many spring bulbs on the coops. We did plant 7000 last fall. Plus roses, peonies, and about anything else that has roots. But I will be slowing down soon. I can only battle the bunnies for so long. They got a mess of lilies and tulips this spring, thus we are putting up better fencing with a 3' chicken wire lower addition, plus some mesh netting to try to win the bunny battle. Dogs got one that had chewed its way into the garden. They left it out by the veggie bed, but sooooo many more. The dogs were very proud. I was sort of sad.
ROBINDOG, love 'Silk road' hope mine survived the rabbits. Our house in Vt is just down the road from Olallie Farm. I will go take a peak next week when I go up. It is a friendly and stunning place when the DL's are in bloom. Great people and dogs. They dig your order while you wait. They have pick your own High bush blue berries too. Could your pink beauty be ' CHORUS LINE'? I have that one from them in Vt. Love it.
But I saw pixies list and it is far bigger than mine. Honest. Back to roses, here is 'Marmalade Skies' that I bought on sale a few years ago for 2.25 and it is a real workhorse. Patti
Is that seven thousand?????
great shots today everyone.... and Victor my PDD looks the same as yours
:(
What a bummer. And I had it backwards - Razzmatazz is taller! PDD is described as 'sturdy'. Guess that means it doesn't lose its petals when the flowers hit the ground.
you aren't kidding... mine also looks half dead at the moment.... looks like it's having a hard time taking to my ground.. i won't expect a return next year
Help, what is a PDD? Saw Victors drooping plants, but I don't know what they are. Thanks,
flowerjen, Yes 7002 was the final count. This year will be far less. Well half as many, but many minor bulbs that I will use a dibble to plant them. I had my DH and his trusty electric auger and our two helpers that I featured in the collage of some of shots of the yard. The girls prefer round and fuzzy yellow bulbs that are given to us from a launch driver who fishes them out of the harbor from wild playing tennis players. Patti
Another showcase day, all of the flowers are so beautiful.
Patti-Still absolutely amazing every time I see your gardens! and I want to pet your poochies.
Flowerjen, They are very bouncy and love human attention, but tennis balls even more or digging holes in the garden. They are from the same litter and have just turned 6. Their Mother is on island and belongs to our vet. Their father is a working/showing herding dog on the cape. They are not well behaved, but adorable and loving. Nell is the dark one and was the runt. Winnie is the white one. Patti
BB it's Echinacea purpurea 'Pink Double Delight'
It's beautiful Jo Ann!!!
love that
Thanks for the "love pats" I don't have many blooms to show in this first year so I'm playing the ones I have for all their worth LOL**)
That is a beauty.
Every time I see one I think of the opening of "Men in Black"
victor i have razzamatazz and it is tall. it has not flopped yet - although it is surrounded by other CF's that probably help it stand - it might be my favorite one - i'll get a shot of them tomorrow mornng to post for you.
Apologies for the blur.
Pretend there are red speckles inside this bloom.
Belemcanda moves with the slightest breeze, tried to get a pic for two days, best of.
Whole plant resembles an iris with swordlike leaves.
Wish Bluestone hadn't run out at the sale.I wanted three.

BBrookrd:
It could be a Grasshawk dragonfly (Neurothemis fluctuans)
The wing markings have me a little baffled.
Ruby Meadowhawk?
ge1836 you have dmail. BEV
I only have 2 new ones to share...lol.
Starting with a no id from Gilbert again...I will never order from them again...Everything that I planted from them is all wonky. I don't think a single red is red, a purple is purple, and I sure as you know what didn't order this one...I have no idea what 12 different DL's are, and I ordered them all from Gilbert. Most of them are pretty and nice, so not complaining, but when a clump is a clump and someone asks me what they are, I am at a complete lost.
Here is number 11 of the Gilbert 12, no id DL
Love autumn ferns too, Jo Ann. That last shot is very nice, Thom. Thanks, Bill!
Thanks for the ID, Patti--Chorus line sounds right, And thank you, Pixie, for the ID on the aggressive DL--I've had 2 takers for it! Loved the dragonfly pic--took a 1 day class on them & damselflies at a nature center--didn't help me 1 bit--all I know is the leader found a rare shade-dwelling butterfly--can't recall that one either--guess I wasn't paying too much attention---I'm more of a birder. Here is a plain echie with some noid OT lilies--but they weren't 25cents, Thom!
