First time on this forum. Not sure I picked the right one to post my question, but here goes. I have a covered patio that is kept humid with misters on a timer. Among other things ,there are a couple of big old stag horns in this patio. It seems that shortly after hot weather sets in the ends of the fronds (leaves) develop a covering that looks like brown suede. It is not unsightly but it seems to spread if left alone so I have been cutting effected fronds off at the base and trashing them.
Is this the right thing to do? What is this stuff? Any information or advice would be appreciated.
Stag Horns
Google "staghorn fern spores" and check out the information, especially the pictures to see if that's what yours look like. You may be repressing some sexual expression there, what would Mother Nature think of that?
thanks, I am going to do that right now. May turn out I owe my plants an apology.
