What is your #1 Favorite container RIGHT NOW? Here's mine...

2nd Favorite at present. One of my first painting efforts, and I had gotten tired of it. But, now I love the coleus and the ferns in it.

Love your pretty pots sissy. Very pretty. Coleus is one of my very favorite plants. You have some beautiful ones.

Being from Phoenix where many of our blooms want to shrivel up in the summer, I have found purslane is easy to keep growing. In fact, it thrives in the heat. This is Portulaca Umbraticola, aka purslane.

I am so enjoying looking at all of your gorgeous flowers....wow, to live where so many flowers grow all summmer!!!

Well, boo, wow, to live where so many flowers bloom all WINTER! Now I KNOW someone was scouring the world for seeds from single-flowered portulaca like that, so if you can save seed from that beauty, it would probably be a treasure on the seed-trading forum.

Sissy, I like how the coleus matches the pink of the pot they're in!

Carrie, that's true...we have blooms in the winter...no snow, just great weather. thanks for the reminder...I am sick of the heat!

The thing about this purslane is you can snip off a stem, stick it in any old dirt and it becomes a new plant...kind like the purple heart. I have bright orange, hot pink, lighter pink, bright yellow and a multi colored orange-yellow-fushia. One of my favorite summer plants...I grow them in contaienrs mostly but am working on a ground cover too.

Do you have ice plants there, too? They do the same thing, but are annuals up here and they don't even SELL them, I have to get my DG friends to send them to me.

yes, carrie....we do have ice plant.... want to see my favorite?

One of my fav's are hydrangeas...can't grow them here. they are for indoors only. We all have such unique plants for our regions....

THAT'S an ice plant? But not a delosperma, surely. I'm trying to get the difference straight!
That one is lovely, for sure!!!

Carrie, no that is a type of portulaca but I am having trouble with it...it blooms so rarely....but it's one of my favorite blooms....I was just letting you know we have ice plants here.
Sometimes what I write is not what I mean! :-)

I'm right with you there, writing what I don't mean seems to be one of my specialties!

Dancey: Thank you! I have to admit I just STUFFED them in this year. Maybe they like it?

Agree with everyone else, edder, lovely. It's can be a hard time of year for flowers.

I have serious flower envy! That is a beautiful combination of colors. Nothing like that can bloom in Phoenix right now.

krn - absolutely gorgeous!

My favorite container at the moment is the hideous plastic one where my squash is growing. The dog ate most of the seed and I don't know which squash it is because she swallowed the packet too. Besides it's one of the few plants that actually enjoys the wet! Rain, rain go away :-((

Oh, boo, I was stuck in PHX yesterday and the day before!!!!
