Warning!! Please tell all your friends about this!!

Lubbock, TX

July 4th we went down to Petsmart and bought some Zodiac flea and tick drops. Its applied between the shoulders and at the base of the tail. Sassy our Bishon Started chasing her tail and biting at and dragging her rear end 30 minutes later. I had read on the box to wash them with mild soap and lots of water. I washed her rear end off. I thought it had dripped down on to her anus.

After I sat her down she started throwing her self on the ground and rolling over then stand up and do it again and bite at her tail.
I called the vet he said to wash her off several times with Dove dish soap.(he said it would brake up the oils in the Zodiac.).

I washed her 3 more times it still didn't work. I went in grabbed the box and called the 800 number. It said if this was an old case punch this number and if it was a new case to punch another, so I did. It went to Animal Poison Control. The vet said to stop washing her and apply cold wash rags and apply vitimen E. I did that it worked for awhile then she went outside and begin to vomit after the third time. My mother said call the vet tell him we are coming. I called the vet and he was at the clinic mowing the lawn. (Thank God)

He said the Zodiac drops were the worst and he could only treat the symptoms. He gave some her some allergy shot (not benedryll I had already tried that.) , some antibiotic, and something for vomiting. He said the that the main ingrediant did not have an antidote. We had to wake her during the night and make sure she was sleeping and not worse.

By Monday she still wasn't back to normal so we took her back in. All the rolling and biting at the tail had irritated her back (she has calcium deposits in her back.) She is now on two pain killers and a trainquilizer. If this doesn't work in a week we may have to put her to sleep he said. (I just put my Shih Tzu to sleep last month that I had for 16 yrs.)

Our other dog Snickers I had only put half the amount on our other dog because he has skin allergies. I put the left over in a plastic cup ( the thin kind ) the open noozle to the bottom of the cup. Today I was digging through the trash looking for a receipt and saw the cup the liguid had melted through the bottom of the cup and where it splashed looked like melted ooze.

Please note that in the beginning of this I said that when you called the Zodiac reaction line it asked if this is an old or new case and would turn it over to Animal Poison Control. This means this is not rare and its not just a few cases. PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS WHO HAVE DOGS ABOUT THIS!!! The vets here in Lubbock have seen alot of dogs with reactions to this stuff.
