Help with two trees ''ID''

Screven, GA

Well, lets see... how do i start this off.......... This past winter while clearing out some over brush behind my grain bins. I came across this small tree that i decided to keep. At the time it was winter , the leaves all dry and i thought it was some kind of a maple tree. Come spring the blossom looked like a peach tree. Then after a few weeks past to me it came pretty apparent that it was a southern sweet gum tree, because the woods around here are full of them.. Around Jan. i bought some amur maple seeds .. Well they are two foot saplings now and look to me just like what i call the sweet gum tree.. I don't really know now what is what.. I'm gunna post four pics the first three is the big tree , and the forth will be the small sapling .... thanks in advance .... Greg

Your big tree behind your grain bins is a Red Maple(Acer rubrum) and the pot growing seedling is an Amur Maple(Acer ginnala). So, what you bought really was Amur Maple seeds. They're both Maples and so look quite similar when young, so it's no wonder you started to get a bit confused as to what was what. Watch out Amur Maples are proving to be a bit invasive in parts of the USA.
