Vendor question

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I did a lot of plants from seeds this year instead of purchasing plants. Only problem is that I'm not sure which are weeds and which are seedlings. Just wondering if there is a vendor out there that supplies a pic of what the seedling will look like. I'm letting a lot of things grow and not doing a lot of weeding so I don't pull up the wrong thing. Most of the things I can't identify are, I think, the perennials because I can identify the annuals. I did have things marked but with all the storms we had, a lot of my markers were knocked out of their place.

You can try looking things up in Plant Files here, with many of the more commonly grown plants someone's taken the time to post some seedling pics. It can be very difficult to tell things apart at the seedling stage though--when they first sprout they pretty much all look alike, and even when they get a little bigger there are still a lot that will look pretty similar to each other so you may have a hard job even if you are able to find pics of what the seedlings should look like. And if there are ones you can't figure out, you can try posting them on the Plant & Tree Identification forum--the bigger the seedling the better chance of recognizing it, but especially if you give a list of the things you started people will be able to tell if it might be one of them or not.

welcome to my world rosierarie. I'm forever direct sowing and forgetting to put in tags. I spend alot of time peering at little things saying "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?" I just leave everything in until the seedling develops enough so I can recognize it. I actually can recognize my common weeds quite well at an early stage now because I have this bad habit. Alot of perennials are slow growing (where as weeds are usually fast growing) so anything that's poking along is a keeper for sure until you can identify it. Right now I still have 2 mysterys patches of seedlings that I'm still peering at sigh.

Thanks for the website - big help.
I have to say, I am having the most fun with this direct seeding. More surprises than I could ever imagine. Next time, I am going to really try to be a little better about labeling my seedlings.
Thanks again for your help and input.
