Saw this moth hanging upside-down on my Daylily this morning. Very interesting camo! Anyone recognize it so I can add it to BF? Thanks, Susanne

Maybe... I think it's a looper moth, either genus Syngrapha or Autographa. It's a little beat up, but Syngrapha orophila or Autographa ampla are a couple to start with.
Wow I see what you mean about it being beat up. When I saw that part I just thought that was part of its disguise. Poor thing!
I think you're right, it is probably Autographa ampla- Large Looper moth. This pic looks pretty close, what do you think?

I don't know, but looking at them more, I see the Syngrapha moths have colored hindwings, like an underwing moth. And the pic you found looks even closer than the ones I saw.
I'll keep looking some more. At any rate, thank you so much for the help! I wouldn't have even known where to start. It's so much easier with plants when they come with a tag, eh? (Not that its always right...) :) Susanne
