CLOSED: Which wasp is this?

Cairo, Egypt

Can anyone ID this fearsome looking wasp which I think might belong to the Sphecidae family of thread-waisted wasps.

Thanks Leo, its a Sceliphron spirifex and I've confirmed that we do get them in Egypt. They must only live in cities for with a maximum of three short rain showers a year, there's not a lot of mud except where people water their gardens as I do twice a day in the present temperature.
