I made another fairy terrarium today!

South, TX

I made this today. The fairy is looking at a glass orb I bought at an Art Fest yesterday. There is an opal inside, looks like a planet and there are larger planets and stars... It is so pretty! I also bought a pretty glass heart necklace.

Here is one picture, next one is below.

Well, that's one way to stay out of the heat, and create a beautiful little garden as well. That is VERY pretty.

CHEERS!

Your orb reminds me of the first Men In Black movie, where "the galaxy is in Orion's belt" (hanging from the cat's collar).

Ah now that is just too cute!

Hiya Sally,I like that one too!
You're very gifted at making those.

Show us more, pretty please.

I only have two. I have to make sure they look good where I grow them. I don't want to just have too many. You know what I mean? I grow lots of violets, but they have lighted stands so they all look pretty together. I love how they look close up. I like to see everyone's close up!

Sally,
Wish I had your self control, I grow way too many...but it's something I really enjoy.
I have a light shelf just for my terrariums and many more terrariums on my AV stands.
Some are decorative like yours, others are more functional, love em all.
I made the mistake of discovering I could grow Rex begonias with my AV's so now I have a lot of competion for shelf space.
The best thing about terrariums is I can work in the air conditioning and still garden.

Oh, yes, indoor gardening is NICE in the TEXAS summer! Also, when I had my surgery 6 weeks ago, I could not go outside and I still can't garden out there. Well, I do plan to do some trimming tomorrow. I have to be careful.

ANYWAY, I really enjoyed working with my AV's and terrariums while I recoperated! Staying cool and still gardening. It was wonderful. I was in my violet room/office two days after I got home. Just shuffling around, ha.

Looking at the pictures of your terrariums gives me such a calming feeling. I can just imagine how sootheing it is to sit and look at in first hand.

Sally it's been so hot & dry here that my outdoor garden looks scorched. I've been trying not to look at it..lol The AV's, gessies & terrariums keep me busy when everything else fails.

I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Hey there sallysblooms, I really LOVE your terriums! And I REALLY REALLY love the glass orb!!! That is SOOOOOO cool! And so perfect for a fairy garden. I live in Michigan and am wondering....where the heck can I get one of those??? Or 2.....or 3....or....oh dang !!!!! :)

South, TX

Marip, the orb was $80. Not sure you want a bunch! Expensive, but so beautiful. It is about the size of a golf ball. All handmade by the artist. Each is different. This looks like the plants and universe. SO pretty.

Sallysblooms, that is really fantastic. It just fires my imagination. I can sit and look at a scene like that and imagine a story all around it. Love the Wardian case you used to house your scene. I have been looking at buying one. They are not cheap and a bit tricky to find but that's what makes the challenge worthwhile.

You have so inspired me to create something like this of my own. I had the most fun doing it. Don't you think part of the fun is hunting down all the pieces you visualize that you want to use?

I entered mine in our county fair, which was the first time I ever did such a thing...

I won first prize and then Reserve Champion!!!! I was really pleased. I am already hatching my plan for next year's terrarium. Here's a few pics. Hard to not have loads of reflection off the glass. :-( Bear with me...(why can't we post more than one pic on a post??) grrrr

CHEESY!!!! My goodness! I can't believe what you did! Just magical! Absolutely precious and detail everywhere! I love it, what fun to see all of your little animals and fairy. The plants are wonderful, and the chair, rock, branch.... WOW, you deserve your award and MORE!

NOW, I will tell you where I got my Wardian case if you tell me where you got your goodies. Where is the fairy from. Her face is wonderful.

Congratulations. I enjoyed your photos SO much! Where will you keep it now. I keep one in my sunroom and the other in our office by the window. I just trimmed and watered them today.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

great job.... and congrats

Cheesy-
Congratulations!! That is glorious!

You should start your own thread with that, and post more pictures :0)...Some people who are not following this particular thread, might miss it.

I'm with Sally...tell us where you found your accessories, please? I have one apothecary jar that needs some, and I just love that chair and the butterflies...oh, and the birdie, too :0)

I'm not even much into fairies, but that one is sweet. Such a gentle expression and soft colors. Great job!!

West Bend, WI

thanks everyone for your nice comments. :-)

I am loving this forum...was there a forum before this one with a different title? I remember reading a bit about fairy gardens and such before.

I found the fairy and chair at a local shop, Stein garden and gifts. They had a large line of those fairies in different poses, all with that sweet face. Once I saw her I thought of Sallysblooms' pretty red fairy with the bird and my terrarium idea was born!

Ebay was the source of many of my other accessories although I picked up the bunnies and frogs at Hobby Lobby. The rose bowl and the moss sheets came from there too. You know how it is, a little of this...a little of that...

I was looking for a wooden wagon wheel on Ebay for a cactus garden I was making (oh I could do another thread on that one...lol) and came across the little flocked doe. I just loved it. Also a seller that I bought little ceramic cow skulls from (again for the cactus garden) had these adorable little handpainted owls. So, it just grew and grew...

I have been having more fun looking at the links for sources people have put in this forum. It's opened up a whole new world. I've always been fascinated with miniatures and clearly I am not the only one!

"Where will you keep it now. I keep one in my sunroom and the other in our office by the window. I just trimmed and watered them today."

LOL, I just did the same thing yesterday. I keep mine on top of entertainment center out of direct sunlight. My little fairy is keeping my wizards, dragons, and such company.

After the fair I got two phone calls asking me to buy my terrarium...hmmm....maybe a new business is born? ;-) It sure would be more fun than my real job..hahaha

You should take them up on it! Make some, charge a fair price, and print out a business card, for future referrals :0)

So where did you get the butterflies? and that little post with the birdie?

This forum is pretty new. I posted a few months ago, in the Daves garden forum, requesting to have a forum like this. I enjoyed seeing fairy gardens, but they were scattered all over the place, and I was hoping that they could be all in one place.

It had a great response, and many people chimed in, and agreed we needed our own forum, and voila!...Tiny Gardens forum was born :0)
