Can anyone id?

I know the pictures are poor... but until i grow them i can't do any better.
I found these plants growing on a sand dune near the sea near bordeux, France.
They are lowgrowing or creeping with the usual heart shape leaves.
The flowers where girly pink with white stripes.

Probably a common old weed but still very pretty and prettier than our native convolvolous...!

Maybe Ron will check this forum tonight sometime and give you some info. I wouldn't have a clue. I don't even know the MG vines native to Florida! LOL! Good luck growing them! Be sure to post more photos, too!

Hi Mike,

Looks like a Calystegia...likely
Calystegia sepium

or

Calystegia soldanella
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/60559/

How big are the seeds (?)...

Hi Ron,

The seeds look like they will be large (compared to normal mg seeds)... i could only find un ripe pods so had to pull a few of those hoping they will finish maturing enough as they dry to be viable.

You are right with calystegia .. thats the family i was racking my brain for but couldn't think of it.
The growth was very much like the second one Calystegia soldanella but the leaves and flowers where different to both.
Maybe a local difference?
The leaves where more rounded and the flowers more striped (the stripes where four or five pencil thickness)

I could have taken a photo but my wife (who had the camera) was embaressed so walked off as it was busy and there was me climbing a wall to pick these!

I'll keep looking at other soldanella pics.

Thanks

Mike

Hey Mike,

Well,I sure hope you found some kind of natural mutation...

I'd be interested to see what the seeds look like when they are done drying...

The situation sounds strange...not you climbing walls trying to gather seeds, but that your DW would be embarrassed (?)...you think she would have accepted and acknowledged who she married and what is more important...what you (!) think / feel or what some strangers think...(?!)...

She must be a very good (!) cook for you to be so (!) understanding...

TTY,...

Ron
