This is a lynx spider (family Oxypodidae); they are active hunters that do not spin a capture web of any sort. This one might be Oxyopes scalaris, the western lynx spider - see http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/spiders/Oxyopes.htm

Thanks so much Suunto! My friend told me it looked like a green linx spider without the “green” so that makes perfect sense. The images of the western lynx spider do look extremely similar to the spider hanging out in my garden. Is this the same spider as http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/2327/ ? I’d like to add these pics to the bugfiles if the match is definitive enough (as you can tell I am definitely no spider expert) and the Latin name matches up with that entry…I don’t want to add these photos to the wrong place though. Any thoughts? Thanks again!
