Found this in the back yard. Started taking pictures and his/her, um, thingy was protruding in and out. I couldn't tell if she was trying to have babies or whether he was showing off. Any clue?
CLOSED: What's this bug and what was he/she doing?
This is a long-horned wood-boring beetle (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in the subfamily Prioninae; possibly the brown prionid, Orthosoma brunneum - see http://farm1.static.flickr.com/4/4070004_54e6339c29_o.jpg for an image. This specimen is a female, she may have been releasing pheromones to attract a male.
