i think we should make a list of all the chickens we have that are named
names for chickens
OMG I will have i am guessing about 60 or so chickens I will keep of this batch. Dang I am gonna have to have help naming them. Right now they are chicky chicky. If I get a roo that is mean and I can tame him his name will for sure be lucky. To young yet to name them, I need to see personalities 1st.

and i love the names i have a lot more to name by the looks of it and i know wat u mean catscan u get so sure on the gender u think its a rooster then it lays an egg and u have to slter it lol
yeppers, Rocky is now Rockette. i may have found a good RIR breeder to get a roo from. he is 79 years old, says he has been raising chickens since he was TWO lol...
Spunky Monkey may become Azalea Sunrise, looking more henish.
Better Legs looking rooish and Jersey Giantish, so Giant Legs might be better.
Beauty turned into a roo, and i kept calling him that for lack of a name. finally it came to me, now we call him Buddy.
Morning Glory got a nice big comb so we call him MG. Apricot is one sissy of a roo. And Chuck is a pullet that just doen't fit in.
Our BA roo, Eggplant went to a new home today.
Our original Muscovy pair are Popeye and Olive Oyle. One of their hens is Tazmanian Devil, we call her Tazx, and she has nine babies we will NOT be naming. Two of their sons are Rufus T Riley, and Christmas [we ate a ham instead].
tf
how many roos do ya have tamara
josh
I have 2 names already, Cockey, and Bossy. Cockey looks to be a roo, he stand tall, and is already getting tail feathers He just struts around. Bossy now is a little silver chick, she is so dainty and last night she was a peeping her head off running around. We were like what is wrong, I think she was telling the other chicks it was time for bed. When most got to the perch and light area she calmed down. the one on the right is Cockey.
We tended to name our last batch according to what they were. Or simply a description. Hence, we had "Big White Chicken" (a white Jersey giant), Barred Rock, Big Red (our NH Red roo), Turken, little Turken, etc. Not very inventive perhaps, but it worked!
My brother used to call his chickens names like, chicken nugget, broiler, etc. I guess you can tell what they were set to be. No pets there.
beautiful photo elle!
L2G2, too cute!
i don't know yet how many roos i will have. but presently just a Black Jersey Giant, and a Buckeye... the rest are cockerels...
Jaco the Giant and Best Buckeye
Great names!
We have
Chippy (my husband calls him Mr. Chippy, he started off as chipmunk because he had the coloring of one)
Rosie (probably a RI Red)
Mac (my great aunt and uncle were also Mac and Rosemary)
Lyle (a Sultan, started off as Foghorn (leghorn) because he ran so funny, DH started calling Lyle as in Lyle Lovett)
Mousey (a solid gray rooster, a bantam, I guess, he's small)
Henry (my sister hatched eggs in her 6th grade class, and brought home Henry and Henrietta)
DH bought 6 chicks at a Tractor Supply, at least 5 of them seem to be roosters! Lyle appears to be our only possibility of a hen. It may have something to do with the breed, but Lyle often acts confused, and a little "slow". Usually hangs around the coop, near the food. The others often chase and bite his/her neck and jump on h/h back.
I feel so sorry for poor Lyle.
Kool names. Poor Lyle.
Some of the names are so funny! I love Sir Fozworth Peckfellow.
sultans are very docile, and they look funny to other chicks, so he is open to being picked on more. you could always hold him more and make a great pet out of him!
i have named my chickens on wat colour they have been before but then i ended up with ten whiteys and blackys runin around i thought i better be a bit more adventerous
josh
:0)

I forgot Commander Bob and Red, they are both Birchen Cochin roos. Red is a bit more aggressive then Bob.
Then we have Silkies we are starting to name, one is Beauty and one is Bunny. We have 4 more to go. I think they are all hens.

awwwwwww love the names. And NO I am not knowing Tracy and Laurie, who are they. i would know Marsha, Jan, Peter....... I thought I would have fun with the grandkids once the chicks get old enough to see what they are and of course the ones we are going to keep and let each one pick 1 or 2 and let them name them. 6 grandsons and 1 granddaughter so far, and one on the way and 2 more possible . I am sure the one my granddaughter names will be Ariel. Now the older boys who knows. I cant wait to get them out here to pick their chicken to name, I will have to tag them some how just so I can remember.
would have suggested changing Hailey to Comet, but that is taken. how bout Haney, as in Mr. Haney?
well geez tf, are we EVER gonna get you into the "bright" ages.. haha, this Hailey is named after the only girl in the band Paramore (not my favorite.. but the teen gets another one)
Actually when we first pulled the chicks out of the box.. "she" had a black round "halo" perfectly on the top of her head.. my DH and I were calling her halo.. and dd quickly claimed her and changed it to hailey after the singer.. right now with the temperment I would like to change it to alice cooper and his bat out of he - double hockey sticks!
frans i luv your chickens realy cool colours
great job with names everyone looks lik i have to name a lot more to catch up with u guys lol
I have a flock of Cuckoo marans, with two very large roos. The more dominate one is named Braveheart, and because my wife works at McDonalds I named the other one Big Mac. Still looking for names to give the hens. I have really enjoyed reading some of the names different ones have come up with. Ya'll are so original and creative. U inspire me to work harder to think of names. Thanks, Haystack
I lover your names Hay, Braveheart and Big Mac.
gee, i wonder which one would be the choice for the stew pot?
TF Watch your language, You'd better get to stewing over another subject. And to think, I was sure you were one of your communities finest? Mmmmmm-Mmmmm
Well, I decided to name our crowing youngster Mr. Macho. The guineas so far are Piper as in Pied Piper, Gene, and Betty. We gave a young rooster to a friend last year and he named it Willie after my husband. He named a hen Esther after me, so I decided to name two of the guineas as them. That'll show them!!! LOL
GG
Haven't decided what to call any of the others.
well i have already got names for my 2 silkies who are going to hatch on wedensday
igloo as in a ice home thingy forget how to spell it and horashio 2 very odd names huh
josh, yes, very odd, what if they are hens?
frankly haystack, i love the taste of FINE homegrown chicken! and i wouldn't eat a Big Mac if i was three meals shy...
love htos names Granny, can't wait for them to come over and see how silly guineas are...
lol u sur lik your chcicken tamara and if they are hens the names will stay the same i am actualy hoping they are hens and i better not count my chicks before they hatch to
Homegrown chicken is soooooo goooood! Believe it or not, the silkie roos were some of the best.
Hey now that is what I am thinking, My Dh loves them cornish hens we get at the store. I know maybe a bit bigger but still. Sorry, that is how I am going to get him to like this "adventure" I am in.
