Happy Fourth of July Everyone

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

It's like having kids....you grow UP with them! haha!

When I first started gardening my Mom said, "Why did you buy that....you don't know anything about it!!!!" I said, "Mom, if that were the case I wouldn't buy anything!!!!!!!!!!" I have to start somewhere, and it wasn't with a book! I believe in "hands on" learning! I haven't killed tooo many! Most of them have lived!

Well, so far I guess I'm a "selective" killer... lavender, lavender, rose, lavender, lovage, lavender, cuban oregano, lavender...
I'm also good at "torturing" a plant out of its zone: lilac (now it's much better)
I've got my first orchid with your exact thought in mind (plus it was a fragrant one, I'll say no more, I wanna build up a thread with my orchids, and I'll put it here on TZG because here I feel more at home and comfy and it fits well). Hope Texas and Southwest will not mind, I'll give them the link when I do it.
F4F, we are patient, at least more patient than your five year old...

Alex, you are welcome here and everywhere else. I personally roam around the various communities (forums) all the time. When I do I see a lot of familiar names. Don't always post but almost always learn something about gardening.

This is a really, really big group of "zone-pushers". I'm particularly bad about that. Right now my yard looks like a tropical jungle. By mid-November it is going to be touch-and-go finding ways to protect most of it.

Chrisi, did you sign up on the ZDD (zone denial disease) list (I think it is in Texas forum)? That is a beautiful place, and yes, you'll have to work alot, but I don't think you mind working in the garden.
oh, I also think (feel like) I'm torturing the orchids here.

Love your garden Christi!

Alex, I don't think you are torturing the orchids there. I definately have Zone Denial Disease! LOL! And don't ever plan to get over it! LOL!

I think it is possible to have ZDD wherever you are. I know of folks in the tropics keeping Hyacinths in their refrigerator all winter. Me- I just received a Cubanola domingensis today........zone 11! Really, what is life without denial...........just like when my allergies were diagnosed- what is life without fermented food products?

Really! Just gotta push the envelope! But I love it! Love those tropicals!!!!

F4F, are you talking about me?! ;o)
Oh, I really believe I do... until I realized that the poor babies need more water here, some of them lost from their normal plumpness...
