update--new kids on the window sill
guess I need a microscope
guess I will have to get cups, lights set up, etc this weekend--these are real nice, already nice red undersides to the leaves
its almost forming a hedge--any of you helpful folks want a few when they grow up a bit? Looks like I got just the right number of the others but a small army of these...
=)
OMG DMJ,
its almost forming a hedge
That is just too funny *lol*
Wish I could help you as I love being of help, but seeds and me......or baby seedlings and me.........not such a great match *lol*
Those look awesome though and what a cute little "hedge" you have :)
I'm sure one of the more "seasoned" seed growers will pop in and give you some advice as to when and what to do :)
Great Growing!
Kim
Let's first look her up and see if they should be planted individually or in groups...........be back in a minute.............
It appears that these can be grown as a hardy plant outside???? I think Jannich has these. So..........I would plant each one in a plastic solo pot from the grocery store in a very light mix.........be sure to cut holes on the side bottoms of each pot for drainage. They look great and ought to grow fine...............
yes Gail--I thought I might do a few outside and just keep the rest going under lights this winter
I think this one might be one of the ones that sometimes act funny if they are allowed to go dormant...let me look at my notes on it
my Achimenes are starting to bloom outside, they accidentally got their leaves blasted by the run off when a friend decided he'd power wash my house for me--I have a small collection of these, another of my "closet" obsessions--lol
I think they are like african violets and don't like their leaves wet--oh well, they will recover.
so far only purples blooming but everyday one more bloom...can't beat that, day 2 and today 2 blooms--maybe a combo of a little dolly rain and powerwash runoff effect added to blazing heat and sauna-like humidity?
=)
Those are so nice and such a pretty color. RainGazer just sent me the purple achimene cuttings and they look fine. Now I am ready for them to bloom like yours.
mine are outside, complete shade on windowsill--easy, just like a lot of fertilizer
I think they prefer it if you don't power wash the top half of the window
=)
I am scared to even take mine from out under my gro lights (LOL)
