CLOSED: What is this wormy thing?

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

We found it in our alfalfa tea water barrel.
It was under the water kind of hanging on to the side of the barrel. (there was more than one)
It has a tail as you can see, and crawled like a worm.

This is a rat-tailed maggot, larva of a fly in the family Syrphidae. It is a harmless scavenger. The adult is known as a drone fly, and superficially resembles a honey bee - see http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/diptera/Eristalis.htm

No kidding... wow, I had no idea. We used to call those "H" bees when I was a kid.
