This dragonfly was also taken at the elephant enclosure in Valencia´s Bioparc, Spain. (I did take some shots of the elephants!) I think it is a Common Hawker but are there any experts out there who can help me?
CLOSED: Another Dragonfly
This does not look like any image of a common hawker (Aeshna juncea; aka moorland hawker) that I have seen; it might not be a hawker at all. It probably will take a specialist in this group to provide a definitive i.d. - I also would like to know what it is, as I have been fooled in the past by atypical examples of otherwise common species.
I´ve tried looking on other sires but cannot seem to find out what it is. This one only visited the pond for a little while and then never came back, unlike the others.
I think I`ve tracked down the name for this Dragonfly, its an Epaulet Skimmer.
