Can anyone help identify this dragonfly and also explain the yellow sac under the body. This picture was taken whilst viewing the elephants and Valencia´s Bioparc, Spain. The dragonfly kept landing on a branch over the small lake in the enclosure, on this ocassion I noticed this small yellow sac under the bottom so managed to get a reasonable shot of it.

This could be a violet dropwing (Trithemis annulata; Odonata: Libellulidae) - see http://gallery.photo.net/photo/6516011-lg.jpg for an image.
Thanks for your info Suunto. It looks like on to me. But what are the yellow sacs under the abdomen, I´ve noticed them on some photos but not on others. I also took some later shots which do not have the sac?
I wasn’t sure what the yellow mass might be, so I didn’t comment. If it were an egg mass, I would expect to see it at the tip of the abdomen - see http://www.asia-dragonfly.net/pics/a340/Rhyothemis_Phyllis_Female02.jpg for an image (you may have to cut and paste this URL into your browser).
