My first bloom from Buggy Crazy blubs

Agawam, MA(Zone 6a)

I purchased some blubs from Buggy Crazy last August. This is my first bloom. I believe it's
called 'Georgette'. I can't believe the quality of her blubs and how big they get the first year.

What those bulbs produce is amazing, isn't it?!

You bet it is, I can't wait for August. Squirrls & Chipmucks got most of my oriental lilies this year, I can't wait to replace them. Most of the ones they got were planted in early spring - smart little critters. I will keep posting pictures of Buggy's flowers- I believe each one I purchase from her came up.

If for some reason you have an oriental that was a no show, don't give up hope, it could just be pouting and will come up next spring. I have one called Woodriff's Memory and I planted it in the fall of '06 and it didn't come up till this spring. I have a couple others that did that too... So it might not be Chip and Dale and friends... :)

Ticker,
I wish it was so, I have remains of the blubs-and plants. I have to say Chip & Dale (chipmonks) make me laugh-I do like them. I do do a little name calling when I find the remains of the plants. I have been trying red pepper to keep them away-raining to much. I've also have been trying birdseed-sunflower seeds in another part of the yard to see if that would keep them away-get them full of something else. Nothing really has worked thus far.

Are the digging the bulb up and making off with it or just taking off the stem?

Agawam, MA(Zone 6a)

Ticker,
Thus far I've seen mostly the remainder of the stems-which kills me because you see the bud forming. But, once in a while I see portions of the blub.

Ticker thanks for the advise to Donna.
I moved to this house last july and brought my containers w/me.
I had lilies in them and planted ner OP strain in a tub .
Most of the tubs were on the back deck faces NE and doesn't get much sun until late April. Containers were frozen w'ice ontop until early April.
Some of the bulbe seemed to take forever and I finally dug one and put it in the ground. It's July (as we all know) and still no sight of it.
Your pouting advise will spare that lily as I covet the spot for something else.

I think I'll stop trying to plant lilies in containers, they just don't have the same kind of season as the ones in the ground.
I planted a new container last fall w/ orienpets that never made it. I found out I used the wrong soil mix in the container and it didn't drain well enough.
We have clay here so every bulb that goes into the ground has to have a mixture of soil fine mulch and compost.Hope this is right.I would love to see fine fat lilies like the ones you all have.
