Oh, they are beautiful!
HELP! RH been too low in incubator, chick trying to hatch...
yer they are pretty cool wat i am realy excited about though is my silkie eggs wich are due to hatch not this wedensday but next so a little bit more time
My little Silkie came as such a surprise! He is like the chick from another planet. What colors do you have?
i have white whitey brown and a white roo with som black in his tail which i am hoping i will get some ful blacks out of him but i doubt it i dont think there is enough black in him :(
Looks like you are having some fun with it Christy. Pretty turkeys.
Cute chicks Lucky! What kind are they? For the silkies.......it is so hard and exciting to wait huh?
Thanks Tia. I don't know if it was all that much fun this time around, more like a lot of nail biting nervousness and a great big WHEW, it is over and we have a bunch of babies! I am so thankful that I had that 2nd incubator all heated up and ready to go just in case I needed it for the chicks........who would have known when I did that I would be needing it for the almost ready to hatch turkey eggs? I can't wait until I can post baby pictures!
There ended up being 6 chicken eggs that didn't pip..........I shut down the incubator on Friday night and cracked the eggs. It looks like most of them had started a chick and then it didn't make it pretty early on and 1 chick was big enough and then something happen pretty close to the end. Its hard to know if they didn't make it because of the low RH or if they wouldn't have made it no matter what.
We don't have any fertile eggs right now, or I might be giving it another round.....lol : ) Oh well, all the broodies should be hatching chicks soon.......now that will be exciting!
Christy
well its fun now watching them. All the "drama" is over with you can relax and just enjoy watching them grwo up.
Yep, that is for sure! They are very fun to watch now.
ladybugs they are just mixed breed chicks from my main pen nothing special
Lucky.....they are pretty special if you hatched them, huh? I'm wondering if the amazed feeling will ever go away from hatching my own little chicks! I guess if it doesn't, I may be doing this for a long time. We already have plans in the works for building a bigger one and if that works out an even bigger one than that.....I'm thinking this may never end! : )
Well, the little turkey with the crooked neck problem is doing just fine. So good in fact that we put him with his brothers and sisters. I knew we would have to mark him to make sure we could find him again for treatment so I put a little dot of blue food coloring on his little yellow head. He is sure looking funny with it. My DH is still shaking his head in amazement that all it took was some vitamins to straighten him right out. He said tonight when looking at him that if he had not seen it with his own eyes he would not have believed it. He thought for sure the little guy was a goner and today he doesn't look like there is anything at all wrong with him. AMAZING!!
Christy
well i have only two incubators a little 3 egg r-com and a 42 egg hovabator. i moved my silkie eggs to the small incubator today(easyer to maintain its all electrical and auto matic) so in 8 days i should have 2 little silkie chics
Wow, everything automatic.....I dream of the day! We have one styrofoam one and about a month ago got a little old round metal Bower at an auction. Both have nothing automatic about them and are still air ones. Still a little too soon to tell just how successful we are with hatches in them, but we are getting the bugs worked out so things should go better in the future. It's a good hands on start and has been a huge learning process!
Good luck Lucky.......hope to be seeing pics of 2 little silky chicks soon!
Christy
