This asiatic lily is pure white. Please help ID if you can. I have no records on it.
Thanks
Debbie
White Asiatic Lily ID
Can't tell from this angle.
I'll take some more pictures.
Thanks
Debbie
I've got a couple of ideas but will wait for more pics. On my way to work so someone will probably tell you before I log on again tonight.
Well, the two that came to mind seeing the form have been eliminated. Navona has dark stems and Roma has spots and can be a 'creamier' color. I had one other choice which was Alicia, but it is not a lily that is readily available here in the states and has a few spots down by the nectary.
Sorry............maybe someone else will be able to put a name on this one, I also have a pure white NOID that looks a lot like yours and have been hoping to find a match for a couple of years now.
Thanks for your help, as always. I'll call it NOID right now. It is certainly pretty though - such a pure white. If I find out anymore about it I will let you know.
Debbie
I was looking through my old tags. I think that I've just ID this white lily. I purchased at least ten years ago. It is called 'Colibri'. I can't find any info on it. llilyfan - this might be your NOID - that you have been looking for. Hope it is.
Debbie
Here is a description of Colibri as registered with the RHS.
Close but.....

Once again you are certainly right. The description certainly doesn't match my white lily.
Thanks for the information.
Debbie
I NEVER post if I think there is a good chance I'm wrong, just when I think I MIGHT be right LOL Oh by the way theOnline Lily Register is a GREAT tool and reference for anyone growing lilies. You can at least check if what you have is a registered lily that matches the description or just a named lily that was at the seller or breeders whim.
I know of at least 3 Halloween on the market and the registered one is an unspotted upfacing orange asiatic, it is probably the least known of all the 'Halloweens' out there.
Didn't mean to lecture.......sorry
I love hearing anything you have to say. I'm learning so much. I marked the lily register as one of my favorite places. Thanks for all the help.
Debbie
ANYTHING!!!! OMG once in awhile I go totally off the deep end!
I've read some of your messages-when you go off the deep end & they aways make me smile. I bet you can tell my yard is to wet today to work in. I've been on the computer for hours. I think pretty soon I'll go off the deep end.
Debbie
and you will learn it because you are already noticing things it took me years to notice!
I'll talk to you soon. Please go weed-your plants need you. As always thanks for all your information.
Debbie
I'm going to go out on a limb here and change my mind! I DO think your lily is Navona, or at least a kissing cousin!
take a look at the photos
http://www.lilyregister.com/register/details.htm?id=6544
I'm quite sure mine is not Navona, it has pink on the buds and backs of the tepals.
This is a picture of my white NOID, actually think I found it while I was searching a couple of lily prospects for you and now I can't remember! Aggghhh!
llilyfan, Once again, Thanks!!! The lily Navona looks just like mine. I can't believe all that you have taught me in the last couple of weeks. I now look at every lily (every plant) differently. I now am starting to see the small differences that led you to how to id the plant. I realize the differences between yours & mine. A lot of lilies are even becoming more beautiful. It is raining here in New England, thus I'm not out in the yard as I should be weeding. I hope you got some done the other day.
Debbie
Yes, I did. I am closing in on the time I won't be ashamed if someone comes to look at the gardens. NOT KIDDING!!!!!
I am so glad I could help, even if I was a little wishy-washy on the id to start! Now it is your turn to keep your eyes open for mine. Oh, by the way you are teaching yourself, I might have helped a little, but if you didn't want to learn, it wouldn't have mattered what I said or the tools I pointed you to.
Now, having said all that and making a guess at IDing your lily from pictures.....that is a way to get a good guess, now you would want to purchase a Navone and grow it side by side, or at least close to the other lily and watch both habits after the first year. Compare heights, bud placement, bud coloring, stem color, number of buds, and so on.
Wanda and I were comparing, she said lilies that came from me are not nearly as vivid in coloring in her garden. We have noticed that with iris and daylilies also. Color, at least the richness and intenseity can vary from garden to garden and even in different areas of the same yard. I could go on and on with examples, but.......
I've had my weeding break and am done lecturing :-)
llilyfan,
I think people should pay for your lectures. I'll listen anytime!!! I'm taking notes & even writing them down for future reference. I know what I'll be doing this winter I have so many pictures of any lily blooming in my yard. My present computer is running out of space. I'm also learning what you are discussing above. I purchased & planted both Dot.com and Strawberries & Cream this Spring. Yesterday I noticed two lilies that were the same but different. I have taken pictures of both. I still don't know which is which but, I'm going to learn. You have given me so much valuable information. Thanks so very much. Please anytime you want to take a weeding break & lecture please, please contact me.
Debbie
Yeah, if you want to take a lecture break and weed you can come to my house? I didn't think you would.... *sigh*
My poor knees are so sore from crawling through the garden for 3 days I could almost cry, but then I look at all I accomplished and just smile and pop 2 more ibuprofen :-)
I have massive amounts of Advil here... :) You really should wear knee pads, tho. It makes a major difference in the wear and tear on the knees...
I had rugs, towels, and knee pads. Maybe I could just take of 10 years and be fine again!
Oh heck let's shoot for 20 and then we'd both be fine. :)
