black nursery pots

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

As a hobbie grower, I find the need for more, and more plastic 1 quart, and 1 gallon size pots.Have you ever tried to order these things?Unless you are a larg grower, they are hard to find.Does anyone know where I can buy lots of 100 pots? Please lmk. Mike

I'd try this nursery not too far from you. There's an old newsletter on line that says they recycle old pots. It's worth a try anyway. They might know where to go if they can't help.

The recycling place near here usually has hundreds of them (thousands?), trays, liners, big pots, 3" pots, the works. They sell the stuff for a nominal price, like five bucks for a big box full.
You could try craig's list, too.

Thank you claypa, no, they are not far from me, maybe 1/2 mile, but I have never been there. However, tomorrow I will go up there, and ask.I think they are under new management. Thanks again, Mike

I am in a co-op buying grow bags. They are plastic bags that when you fill them with soil they take the shape ofa nursery container. I think tey are the future of the nursery industry. Why buy a container for 25 cents when you can by a bag for 10 cents? anyway I would try wormsway as a source they have both types of containers. You will need to be fast as the coop closes the 1st week of july. contack lorraine as she is the hostess. Good luck

The bags are a wonderful idea, and I know several who are using them.

My local landscaping company sells used black plastic pots for 5 cents each. Might try one of them. They just toss the pots, or recycle.

Mike.. Did you get your pots yet? If not dmail me. I can send ya a bunch of used one gallons fed Ex be alot cheaper if ya just want to pay for the shipping.

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

Yes Ella, but thank you.I do need some qt. size pots, and I like the round ones best. The pot I need now is 4 3/4"X 4 3/4".Classic 100 has them, but I don't know how to order from them, I even sent them an e-mail, but they must not want to fool with a hobbie grower. There is something about how you treat someone on your way up, that might just change on their way down. Thanks again Ella. The one on the right are 5 and 5/8" across at the top but taper down in to about 4 and 1/2" once ya get past that lip rim and they are 4 and 1/2" deep. Those I got plenty of.

I also have a few of the ones on the left and they are the big ones. 7 and 1/2" across and 5 and 1/2" deep.

The one on the right is the closeest I ccan get to what you want in a round. They do have a lighter fade ring around about the top uarter inch cuz they lay out in the back on pallets in the sun adn that part fades, but I use them and folks don't mind at all.

Our large nursery near us gives away all of their old plastic containers and alot of plastic crates too.

Another way to get black plastic pots is to go to the nursery and buy more plants, tehehe

How can someone from a town named "Temperanceville", think so extravagantly??Makes you wonder!! Mike

I use lots of pots like most eveyone else here, but I can truly say I have NEVER bought one, unless it had a plant in it. Most nurseries and landscapers around here will be happy to give you there empties, they have to dispose of them someway. Friends bring me bags full of them too, I really have more than I could ever use now and I find myself giving them away.
