Can anyone here tell me what genus this Plume Moth is? Dejongia? Geina? Thanks!
CLOSED: Which Plume moth?
claypa,
I am pretty sure that your plume moth is a Geina species, but I cannot quite pin it down to a species. The shape of the second lobe of the forewings seems distinctive in that genus.
I lean strongly towards its being Geina sheppardi: http://bugguide.net/node/view/57107/bgimage
based on the markings immediately behind the thorax. On the commoner species Geina tenuidactylus: http://bugguide.net/node/view/117332/bgimage there is a white band right across the body behind the thorax.
Lovely picture,
Ken
Thanks, Ken. I was on vacation so I couldn't answer until now.
Mike
