We live near Ann Arbor, MI on the Huron River in a wooded area. I've never seen anything like this. Quite large: 4-5 inches in length, long "feelers" and long curved horn-like fixed features in front. Looked like it had large wings. Yellow segmented body beneath with pincer-like feature on the rear. It had to have been disoriented or injured as it was moving very slowly, would not fly, and showed no response to our presence.
I would appreciate any effort to ID the insect, thanks in advance!
CLOSED: Large insect in Michigan - ID please?
I believe we've identified this insect as a male Dobsonfly. Thanks for any interest, though!
