Looks like all Casa Blancas lost for the year

I'm so bummed and need a shoulder to cry on. Looks like all my Casa Blancas have some sort of borer. All up and down the stalks in the leaf axils is the "saw dust" and if you scrape it away you can see the holes. I only saw one insect and I've never seen it before, but in the back of my mind I swear I've seen a picture of it somewhere. Its sort of a soft mottled grey brown and around the edges it has these little dots. And it flys. I'm wondering if I should cut them down incase theyre going into the bulbs or dig them up. I checked all my other lilies and they're fine. I drenched everything in bug killer just incase. Oh how I hate using insecticide. Oh well, Gam Zu L'tova. Sad thing is they're my favorites.

I am sorry for your lily loss, yehudith :-( I have been there. Hopefully it'll come back bigger and better than ever next year!!

Was just thinking about this and my guess is you might have corn borer. try to find out where the critter is in the stem and poke him through with a wire or crush him. The flying ones are probably laying eggs so you have most likely taken care of them with the drenching in bug killer ^_^

Yehudith, is this the bug you see flying around your lilies?

No, its grey/brown and has these little black dots around the sides. I saw it on a site for invasive species I just can't find it again. I thought it was on the lily net site but nope! So if its borers I don't have to dig up the bulbs? I was thinking of digging them up and planting white hollyhocks in their place and just moving them to another site.
