Wrong Lily!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Last fall I ordered a lily called Midnight wihich is supposed to be a dark red trumpet as to almost look purple.

This is what iis blooming now...my guess is that this is Regale. I have contacted the vendor which does have a 'true type' guarantee.

I also have this lily ordered from a different vendor last fall. But this vendor is no longer in business. Now I really like the Regale in the above post ...this one is alright it just is not something that I would have ordered from a mail order vendor.

Well I was mistaken..I just checked the vendor's sight and there is no mention of a guarantee regarding true to type...hmmm.

Nanny, you probably would have been disappointed anyway if you had received the correct Midnight lily. The not-so-honest vendors sell it as a very dark purple trumpet lily when in reality it is being sold as a seedling strain of all shades of purple (usually mid to light purple). There is no red but I have seen vendor potos that look red. Was the lily in your second poto also supposed to be "Midnight"?

I am not sure what the second should have been didn't make note of that one when I planted it for some reason....I am just hoping it was not supposed to be my Anastasia! I will be sooooo mad about that. The only one in this area I made a note of where I planted it was the Midnight since I got it for my DH who likes dark purples and reds.

Gee, now I wonder about this vendor...I placed an order from them for Rio Negro a few days ago!

OK, I see where you ordered your bulb from. They do have identity guarantee; it is stated on their home page under the mission statement.

Yep, but I can be happy with Regale it was on the 'to buy list' anyway!
