Thanks for posting all the pics.

Gives one ideas for fall planting . . . doesn't it!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Michaela, the gardens are spectacular. Your excellent photography, along with the descriptions, almost takes me there. What a wonderful trip! I'm glad you shared the closeup of the underplantings. They are so pretty the way they did it. Of course, I don't have acres & acres, but I might be able to manage a small area. I just planted some English daisies and forget-me-nots, too, darn it. I need tulip bulbs, STAT!

Welcome home, jan

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Jan.

Well, I will be 'summer sowing' English daisies and wallflowers and will plant them out with bulbs in the fall . . . then we will see how successful I am!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Now I used to have gorgeous blue forget-me-nots like that -
I thought they were perennial but they turned out to nbe self-seeding annuals. One layer of mulch wiped them out. :-(

Oh My! Gorgeous.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

See? All we need is an abandoned quarry, 100 years, and 50 gardeners! - oh, and world class landscape architects, and an endless supply of money!

Buchart Gardens is world famous - bus loads of visitors arrive all day long during the summer

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

We have the 50 gardeners, what were the other things we needed? Oh, an endless supply of money, a hundred years . . . oh well, no abandoned quarry, shucks!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Darn!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

That was beautiful Michaela!! I enjoyed visiting the gardens through your photos. The tulips and underplantings are awesome. Eleanor
p.s. - You are going back in July to take pics of the roses in bloom, right?? LOL

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

wHAT a great oppertunity, thanks for the garden trip.
Wish I had 1/4 of the pro gardeners.
That place makes my gardens look like "Dogpatch"

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Love the way that the plants grow up there!!! I went to Seattle and Victoria, BC in midsummer and it was the best! Godzilla sized plants.
What a great trip, Michaela!
Thanks for sharing it with us!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Michaela, what a beautiful place to see....I can't imagine what it must be like in person! Thank you so much for sharing your photos with us!!!

Barnesville, GA(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the tour. DH and I were there about 15 years ago (before digitals) and our pics are somewhere? The story of the gardens is amazing to me..........the Portland Cement founder. His wife had herself lifted in one of those buckets in order to plant some of those goodies.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

If you ever get a chance to go - the best time would be July (?) The rose garden will be in full bloom - and try to go on a Saturday - they have a fabulous fireworks display later in the evening. (And the gardens look amazing at night!)

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, Michaela, I can hear your voice saying that!

Metrowest, MA(Zone 6a)

Michaela,

Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures! I have to agree with Dawn that your DDs look more like your sisters. :)
Going to have to add this as one of the places I want to go.. Maybe after I am retired because I dont think my kids and
DH would enjoy it as much as me lol.

True - so send them whale watching for the day - or to Qualicum Beach (very warm water!) while you spend the day at the Gardens :-)

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Michaela, what a gorgeous place!! Thanks for sharing it here! Now I gotta go see it in person.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Yep - really, it should be the gardener's mecca - one pilgrimige (spelling?) in a lifetime required.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I'll add it to my growing list of great gardens I want to see. Don't you wish The Hanging Gardens of Babylon still existed?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I wish they did. what do you think they were like? Not, surely, enormous spider plants, but maybe hanging platforms of gardens? Like a multilevel mall, except hanging and a garden?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I can only imagine that they probably blew away anything we have now, and that's quite a feat.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yup. I found an old history book last night - ,maybe I'll look it up. Or maybe I'll google them - now you've got me imagining. Darn that imagination of mine! I could use a day without all those pesky thoughts all the time!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Carrie

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hey, I can google with the best of them.
