Here are some of my first to bloom this year
Red Pixie
First Asiatics
Oh yeah, nice!!! :) Those Tangos can be addicting, and that Red Pixie is nice. Keep the pictures coming!!
Can't wait to see more! On your oriental ~ can you take a pic from the side? The pistil looks funny, not that it means anything bad.
Farlito has some great looking blooms inspite of being so stunted. The more photos I see of the Tangos, the more I'm liking them. Honeybee is nice.
Susan
I thought (could be wrong) that Farolito was a dwarf Oriental.
Yes all of the pistils on Farlito seem to look funny they are split three ways, i will post a better pic. of the pistils tomorrow(it is a little dark out). And yes farolito is dwarf but I think 4" is really dwarf (I think it is supposed to be a bit taller.) I think the odd shape of the pistil is due to that it sometimes tries to make semi double flowers, I am just guessing however.
The last one for today is Spring Pink, I think it is suppose to be semi double a some of the flowers are semi double while others are not.
Also I seem to think it has a virus because it looks like the colour is breaking, like it would be colour breaking virus. If anyone could shed some light on weather it has a virus that would be great.
Very nice Peachguy. :) Can't help you with the one you think has virus, maybe one of the lily experts will show up and venture a guess. Maybe you could get a picture of its foliage?
I never claim to be an expert, but I really think it could have a virus. The color is broken on the flower, though sometimes with the lighter colored flowers it's tougher to tell. I'll wait for an expert to show up ;) But my answer is a "highly likely".
Your lilies are beautiful, Peach.
Ha Mags, you've probably forgot more about lilies than I'll ever know... :)
I think your Spring Pink is very suspect, which is too bad because it's a pretty little flower. They're all beautiful and you photograph them well.
I agree it is suspect for virus, I have quite a few in my garden this year, it seems the stress from the harsh winter and spring may have weakened them and left them more susceptible, at least that is my opinion.
Thanks everyone, for the comments and advise. I will sadly pull this one from the garden but better to safe and not let it infect any of the other lilies nearby. Can't wait to see more blooms from everyone.
Try taking a look at Desert Song for your peach colored lily http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/55971/
Thanks, desert song looks really close but mine is not that intense a color as desert song. Actually I looking through the plant files and found one that looks really similar to mine called Menorca http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/search.php?q=MENORCA&Search=Search+PlantFiles
I was very excited when this came up, and I am even more excited now, it is the easter lily! I plan on using it to its full extent this year as I want to try some LA and LO crosses. In fact I have already dabbed some of it pollen on some asiatics and i even put some on a OA hybrid(I don't think that one will amount to much).
Very nice lilies, Peachguy! It is so neat to see the succession of lilies with all of our geographical areas.
Good luck with your crossing efforts Peach, it sounds like you are really running with it. Your lilies are beautiful.
Thanks Magnolia, your lilies are extremely beautiful and I hope mine get to look like that someday. I actually have a question, I have a lily that I think is suspect for Botrytis and I have Bordo copper spray but it doesn't have any directions or rates for periennals. So I was wondering if anyone uses bordo and at which rate?
Peachguy- Is that a green throat on Jacqueline? She is beautiful.
Peach, when I have purchased the premixed sprays for fungus, I just spray the leaves until they drip, I've used it on phlox before when we had a very rainy August and I thought I'd lose it. I thought that was what the directions on my bottle said. As for mixing, I'd guess you'd use the same concoction for lilies and perennials. Hope that helps. Your flowers are great.
Mattsmom Jacqueline has a yellow throat, the way the picture was taken makes it look green. And Magnolia thanks for the info. on the fungus spray.
