CLOSED: Found a new bug.

Hanover Twp., PA(Zone 6a)

I never came across this one before. His body was over an inch not counting his legs. Any ideas? I'm posting two different views.

Wow, I've never seen a black one like that!

We have similar looking bugs here, that we've always called "stink bugs", but they are a grayish brown color.

This appears to be a leaf-footed bug (Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Coreidae) in the genus Acanthocephala - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/67564290 for an image. They do not seem to be a pest species. Like true stink bugs (family Pentatomidae), coreids usually give off a strong odor when disturbed.

But I don't see the "leaf-foot" on this bug....

Mgarr's other picture of the same bug looks like it has Assassin Bug mouth parts. I don't see any with red antennae though.

It would help if both pics were in the same thread, it's confusing otherwise.
