I'm Elles old man and most of the chicken tractors made for 20 birds or more have to be pulled by garden tractor or bigger they are generally 8 ft wide by at least 12 ft long but they set them up to get there eggs to eat or hatch they have nest boxes built in. This one I built to keep chicks that weren't old enough to go in with the big chickens and to big for the brooder were in the posses off trying to get into rare chickens .we want to have about four breeds to work with. Right now we are learning with chickens that don't cost and arm and leg

brooder possibility what ya think
I have kabota tractor and a garden tractor so that is no problem. that big of an operation I don't think I want to be moving around. I guess 20 hens in a cooped up area is too much. I think I will go with the coop approach instead of the tractor. Thanks Dave
thanks Dave. we are building a shed fo rthe new laying chicken, including and eggmobile, and plan to pull it with the garden tractor, out every monring, and into the shed every night...
have you looked at Marti's Poultry Farm? it is somewher in Missouri... they ahve a web site...
how big would u need a tractor for 20 chickens
OMG, my crested will look like that soon! yep those are frizzled cochins! gott aluv em!!!
what is that crested thing with the polka dots, i want it!!!
tf
I just love those crested guts. They are so CUTE at this age! That polka dot one looks familiar......just can't place it....right on the tip of what's left of my brain.....lol
like Appenzeller Spitzhauben???
Barthuhner! tf:0)
how can you tell the difference in that tiny picutre?
I can't. It was my version of "Gesundheit":0)
you turkey! seriously, isn't there an Appenzeller Barthunner?
that is what i was thinking i had, but then his feathers have more black than white, and the body is still silver and gray...
love that pullet!
ok, bathuhner is out becasue of the crest..... tia, are they black tipped feathers, moon like spangles, or laced stripes...?
Silver & Gray? Got me now.....
Thanks! 'She' (they) were quite the characters.
Yup, it's suppose to be stockier than the Spitzhaben, with a backward facing rose comb instead of a crest, white earlobes and a beard. I'm not sure they are even available in the US.
well, i am referring to a crested chick i got in an assortment.... just hatched about 7/8, and started out looking like a befuddled polish, then the white caem on the feathers and i flipped, thinking i had a spitz. now it seems i have a lovely polish, which is fine, i guess, sniff*sniff...
know it all cat LOL
Its okay, tf--I'll find you an Appenzeller Spitzhauben.
I am frustrated because my company is Dutch and they keep sending executives and researchers over here and NO ONE will bring me eggs! What's with that? A girl asks for a few hard to find European breeds and they just laugh like I'm joking.
Its the books talking, tf. I can't help it, they talk to me at night. You should hear the things they say--I try to ignore most of it, but once in a while it just bursts out.
I think I should go and lie down for a little while......
Leave the books ^_^ Good luck on ignoring there talking....
Spitzhauben or Brabanter It is one of these, The lady I met off BYC is wanting some of the roo's I have of these. She said they have a mohawk doo. I will get you a better pic today, I have about 10-15 of these guys.

i gues that is your crested surprise, the one at the water looks like one too! big congrats to you!!! i am still surprised by mine every day...
