In the past 2 months, I have been overwelmed with these bugs on my patio. Can anyone help???? They seem to multiply quickly, as one day there were only a couple, then next few days, they multiplied. I hate them and would like to know how to get rid of them. Normal bug spray does not seem to get rid of them as quickly as I would like. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a small milkweed bug (Lygaeus kalmii; Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Lygaeidae). See http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/189/ and http://www.myrmecos.net/insects/Lygaeid2.html
Although they may be a nuisance, they do no harm as they feed only on milkweed plants. Note that eastern populations lack the white markings on the wings.
