A few years ago the wind snapped off a fairly young maple that I had in my backyard. I cleaned it up but it keeps growing back as a huge, ugly bush type thing. It's a pain in the neck to mow around. I keep chopping it back and it grows back. A friend told me to cover the stump with plastic, so I did. Little shoots are now escaping from under the plastic. I want to kill it without using products harmful to the environment. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
need help to kill maple
Roundup (or similar product with glyphosate in it) is a perfectly decent chemical to treat the stumps/sprouts of the tree you wish to eliminate. Used at label rates, you should have no trouble killing that plant, and have no harmful effects to you, wildlife, or other plants.
Follow the directions, and you should have the results you want in a week to 10 days.
Chopped the stump down and just keep running it over with the mower. It will die some day if it keeps getting chopped off.
Yes, keep the green growth off.
