Blooms that are sectioned all of a sudden...

Aschaffenburg, Germany

So far, no irregularities with this Flying Saucer it produced blooms in the colour of the left upper section. Today it produced this flower...

Martin - Any new blooms on your vine lately? That's so cool how that bloom turned out!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have asked this question before but I don't think I got an answer. I have just started my first morning glories and bought them as plants from a lady on DG Marketplace.

Now I am 'dying' to order seeds for all these beautiful blooms. There are bound to be places to order seeds. Please think if you know any places?

If I had ever dreamed I could grow them I would have started last year...........

Aschaffenburg, Germany

Somebody in the German forum suggested transposons to be the explanation of this phenomenon. I read the article on transposons in German in the wikipedia. I can see that transposons act similarly as viruses and can change genetic material by "cutting and pasting" genetic information within genes to other loci.

I understand if all this takes place during meiosis or perhaps the transcription of the genetic information, but this still doesn't explain why within one plant some blooms turn out normally and some have changed patterns because they all come from one seed.

Enzymes control the expression of the genes...Enzyme levels can fluctuate rapidly in different parts of the same plant on the same day at the same time...this can often cause the expression of genes to fluctuate with the fluctuating levels of the Enzymes that control the expression of the related genes...

Same explanation that I relayed many moons ago...the gene expression is much more
' fluid ' in the constantly growing tissue than you are willing to believe even though it is repeatedly happening right in front of your eyes...Seeing is believing sometimes...or so 'they say'...

C'mon Martin...you got to 'loosen up' some of the dendritic connections of your neural networks...and allow some 'new' circuits to form faster, just like the plants are doing with their gene expression...

Ron

Aschaffenburg, Germany

Telling me, Ron! Come here and ENJOY the heat!!! I shall be melting away shortly, just as the MG blooms do. I noticed, the "Pearly Gates" don't even have the strength to open...these days.

The only time I can open the windows is between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. to let some fresh air in....

So > Whut'chu try'na say da'ya brutha (!)...that I should be want'na go da Morroco for some quick brayne fry (!)...

Hey man.you decided to be in Morocco...I gotz ta deal with the heat / humidity factor in NJ...

I do hear hear that linen is the fabric of choice for the Moroccan heat ...you're not wrapped up in polyester are ya...(!)...

Ron

Aschaffenburg, Germany

No, I wear cotton most of the time and very little at that -- when I am at home...

TTY??

I have been wondering about this abbreviation...???

I think TTY is "talk to you" meaning talk to you later. However, DQMOT
(don't quote me on that).

P.S. - nice try Joseph...

Truly cosmic, Ron, cosmic indeed.

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

it's just one alternative to "talk to you"...people are free to use their imagination...as a stimulus to self-entertaining self-sufficiency...and generally making a joyful noise...(!)
